This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Congratulate me, Peasants!

be careful Pundit, I think seeing themselves as gods is how rpg.net's mods got started towards douchebaggery.  however, so long as you don't start banning people who disagree with you, you should be OK.

Manic Modron

This belongs in the Pen & Paper Roleplaying games section why?

At least the "gatekeeping" thread is sort of about the hobby.

Nerzenjäger

Maybe Pundit trying hard to become a conservative e-celeb is part of his L&D promotion tour?

Xavier Onassiss

You're making enemies on social media and you want to be congratulated.

Do you realize how fucking easy that is?

Fine. Here's your "participation trophy."

Congratulations, you're annoying.

Try going to Catholic school in the 80s while being a D&D player. :D

Quote from: Ulairi;1029908How many books did you sell the last few days spending all of your time arguing with people on Twitter?

Pundit, if you were not on Twitter none of this would impact you. Let it go. Spend your time writing cool games and making money.

I probably sold quite a lot thanks to this. Every time the Outrage Brigade comes after me, I come out the other end more rich and famous.

This is totally relevant to the hobby. I'm the hobby's most dangerous person now.

Ok, show me what shitstorm you caused that got as much response as this, and then I'll give a twopenny fuck what you think.

Oh, don't be upset with Xavier Onassiss for reacting completely rationally to the situation. This I'm-a-big-deal-because-I-got-people-to-be-upset-with-me-on-Twitter thing is such low hanging fruit and so ripe for lampooning that uncreative comedy mediums like newspaper comics or nighttime talk show monologues would find it old hat.

Hopefully someone here that is willing to subject themselves to the horrors of Twitter can come back and report on whether they think people other than you would walk away from your exchanges with the same impression. But until then it's water cooler talk and our friend Joe telling us about the verbal altercation he got into last night and how he so totally told them off and how ridiculous they were.

You cultivated a forum where people are skeptical of braggadociousness and unafraid to tell truth to power. This is the consequence of that.

Getting people offended on Twitter isn't difficult or something to be proud of. Twitter != real life. Remember that image macro from the 90's about arguing on the internet is like winning a race in the special Olympics?

And yet, here we all are, arguing on the internet over Pundit bragging about arguing on the internet.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.
