I'm not sure where to throw this, so I'll put it here. Admins, feel free to move it, but beware that I will cry from shame if you do.
So here's an idea:
How about we, as a community, do a podcast? I'd be glad to be technical dude, and we can use skype to set up interviews/diatribes with anyone interested.
We can make it sort of a soapbox, I guess.
We could even call it, The RPG Site.com Soapbox...
What do we think?
Well...
Put it this way...
The advantage of a messageboard over a podcast is that in the former we can only yell at each other sequentially, not simultaneously. :D
I think its a cool idea. The site should always be on the lookout for added content.
Can you say "twatmonkey" in a podcast?
i guess somebody would listen to it. hell, if the animalball fellers do it, why not this place?
personally, i don't bother with podcasts. maybe when the day comes that i upgrade from dial-up, but not now.
Quote from: stu2000Can you say "twatmonkey" in a podcast?
More than once even.
Of course, our podcast would have to be uncensored, in keeping with the site's philosophy.
Then I say saddle up, you glorious twatmonkies!
The guy doing the tech legwork should be also have a rough concept of who is going to argue over what.
I think the idea is pretty rad!
If one of you guys brings the camera or recording equipment to GenCon - you could get me to comment or record there.
- Ed C.
I'd give it a listen.

There wouldn't be a camera involved. I do have recording equipment, though. Would anybody be interested in a pastiche show, as a test? I can easily get some of us at GenCon.
I can't really participate in a live type recording with others (I'm on dial-up at home), but if someone can advise on hardware and software I could maybe do an editorial or something, then pass the file along to an editor.

Right on! This could be a great idea. Mix up conversations with single speaker submissions. Even I'd be willing to try and contribute.
It'd be like a fanzine! We can have an audio table of contents at the beginning of the file!
sweet idea...i'd participate, or just listen! :D

That's my thought exactly. It would be a community thing, peaople want to upload audio as a soapbox? Fine! People wanna skype in an chat with me or someone else? No problem! Like live debate threads, really.
I'm once again voicing my support for this idea.
Would Serious Paul be banned from the podcast?
Quote from: Animalball BraskyWould Serious Paul be banned from the podcast?
No. But there would be a 20 minute rant from J Arcane on why he should be...
I'd be willing to do something.
I have all the stuff to do podcasting and could record something. Skype won't work for me though.
I can record somethin' and send it out. Never tried Skype, but I have broadband.
Skype was just an idea, any VOIP network will work.
I think everyone should be allowed in, and I'd like he content to pretty well all over the place. As long as the discussion is tied to RPGs somehow.
Here (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?c=2&sc=97) are some more VoIP clients, in case anyone's interested.

Fanzine? That's so last millenium.
This would be a
Fanvox.

What can I say? I'm an old-fashioned kind of guy.

Or a
Podzine
how big do these files tend to be?
i'm now intrigued enough to download this thing at work for later home enjoyment.
I find this idea thrilling and would love to put forth a submission...when I can find the time to make one. :D
Fanvox...there's your name, right there.

That'll work if we can get some awesome 1980's graphics for the logo. Rotwang!, I'm looking at you!

Rotwang in my sights as well....
Fanvox is so 80's in many ways. But I also get this steam-punk vibe from it. I also get a Pulp vibe from it. It's just....cool...
which, of course, leads us all to Doc.
use the font from prince's 'purple rain' album. with a checkerboard background, set at a 30 degree angle. "fanvox--have you had your twatmonkey today?"
I have Photohop and a day off tomorrow.
Get my drift?
:woop: :win: :hatsoff:
Okay. Does it have a slogan?
Quote from: Dr Rotwang!Okay. Does it have a slogan?
"We're better than those other guys because we're less elitist."

We should have a different slogan for every show.
Some suggestions:
"Banging Your Mom Since 2007"
"Saddle Up, You Glorious Twatmonkies!"
"More Fun Than A Bag of Dicks"
"Rad to the MAX!"
Yes to the font, a thousand times yes!
That logo totally works for me.
YES to this logo. :D
It's close to perfect. I'd have only Nit's to Pick...
What if the checkerboard was the pink and the FanVox was grey/black? What would that look like? On second thought, probably horrible.
What about moving TheRPGSite below the Fan Vox?
But overall - fantastic work, Doc. Liek we expected anything else from the coolest guy we know...
The empty area at the bottom is for a slogan.
The logo is a thing of beauty and a joy forever, Doc! Kudos!
-clash
Excellent, Doc! Looks fab.

Hey Doc how bout this for a slogan
"Roleplaying in Quadraphonic Sound!"
Quote from: Brantai"Rad to the MAX!"
Cherry on the sundae!
just need to add a cassette image or a graphic equalizer pic. . . .
just kidding! playing lots of gta: vice city stories these days. actually, driving around listening to the radio in v.c., with occasional stops for carnage.
excellent job, doc! :D :keke:

We've been using that slogan since RPGPundit took over this site.

I know the feeling. I HEART GTA:VC. In the FACE.
Plus, I just did as I was told.
Oh, and my new one (http://xbowvsbuddha.blogspot.com/) is up.
Awesome logo. Shall we begin?
Sure.
