This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Double or Nothing is an rpg. Before u suspect me of shilling it, im just interested in opinions. It tells a story of Disaster Agents who investigate and try to stop Mega Disasters. Its like a rpg version of Dirty Pair. Max 3 players who run around causing Big Damage to infrastructure and things. U also play Truth or Dare and flirt with each other for points. U use d6s. Thats all i know about the system.

I tried asking for input on big purple but havent gotten any. So im Asking you guis. Is playing a female agent in ridicules scenarios anybodys thing?

Spinachcat

Shilling is a good thing.

I've never heard of Double or Nothing. Tell us more about the system, setting and provide links to reviews or the game itself. Also, WTF does trying to stop Mega Disasters have to do with Truth or Dare or flirting? Is this based on an Anime?

Warder

Well,

the game only consists of 27 pages. I expected a bit more, but its a patreon made game i think, they are usually sparse. There are yet no reviews out there. This is the blurb:

Double or Nothing is a roleplaying game for 2 or 3 people, in which you take the role of a pair of agents who get involved in over the top disasters and have to shoot, kick, and flirt their way out, hopefully without creating too much collateral damage along the way. It is heavily based on Dirty Pair, and replicates the style and absurdity of the anime with a variety of simple and quick mechanics that will quickly lead to ever-escalating danger, and a corresponding bill for damages.

In many ways a spiritual successor to Damage Control, Double or Nothing is snappy to play and guaranteed to be ridiculous. Custom mechanics include flirting with one another for bonuses, tracking collateral damage in large monetary units, and actually, straight-up playing Truth or Dare with each other. It can be played with or without a GM, as a one-shot or a short campaign, and requires nothing but d6s and a token. It also contains a quick set of random generator tables so you can start playing within minutes.

It is also illustrated, and includes running examples throughout.

It is the Year 208X...Humanity has spread across the stars, using faster than light travel  to  explore  their  local  arm  of  the  galaxy.  We  have  found inhabitable planets, created sprawling colonies, built automated space stations, and we push ever outward.Oh,  yeah,  at  some  point  Japan  took  over  the  world  with  money and electronics? That always happens in these things. But  also  this  is  one  of  those  awful  libertarian  cyberpunk  worlds where everything is controlled by mega-corporations?Wait, you're watching the dub? I know is easier, but really it's  not  very  good.  You  should  watch  it  in  the  original  Japanese, the subtitles are way better on the blu-ray. Come on, reading subtitles isn't that hard! Urgh, fine.So  yeah,  like,  I  guess  in  that  case  it's  like,  everyone  speaks  English  and  eats  donuts  that  are  100%  rice  balls  and  we  pretend not to notice. God, why do I even talk to you?Anyway, everyone's going to space to get rich. Unsurprisingly, there's constant trouble: malfunctioning AI, criminal schemes, terrorists, corporate powerplays, FTL drive accidents, natural disasters, you name it. As you might imagine, this all gets pretty expensive, so the Interstellar  Business  Consortium  hires  special  agents  to  try  and contain the damage. And of all these agents, the very best are Saeko Shimazu and Kyouko Tonguu... urgh, Sarah and  Karen...  better  known  by  their  codenames,  Kiss and Tell. They have a special policy, unique for Disaster Agents: you can't hire just one. They're a package deal. It's double... or nothing.

So there is no real solid info on the system.

Double   or   Nothing   is   an   anime   inspired   three   player   roleplaying game that creates episodic, over the top buddy cop  action-comedy  stories.  It's  primarily  inspired  by  Dirty Pair, but has elements of Gunsmith Cats and a wide variety of odd duo action movies from the 1980s.

I have read some Adam Warren Dark Horse comics with the Dirty Pair and found them fun so this interested me.
