While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). This may be easier than I am making it, but for the math savvy: is there an easy formula for calculating the average values for treasure (in gold pieces) for the treasure types in Moldvay/Cook B/X?

Another way of asking, how does one arrive at 18,000gp average for the following:

25%: 1d6 × 1,000cp.
30%: 1d6 × 1,000sp.
20%: 1d4 × 1,000ep.
35%: 2d6 × 1,000gp.
25%: 1d2 × 1,000pp.
50%: 6d6 gems.
50%: 6d6 pieces of jewellery.

(Referencing https://oldschoolessentials.necroticgnome.com/srd/index.php/Treasure_Types, which may be off)

Assuming the gem and jewelry ratios from BX/OSE (e.g., average Jewelry 3d6 x 1000)

Gem Values
d20 Gem Value
1–4 10gp
5–9 50gp
10–15 100gp
16–19 500gp
20 1,000gp

The utility of this is structuring new original treasure types.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Think I found the solution. Unless someone has a correction.

Expected values for treasure types A and B (BX/OSE)

Type A:
cp .25 x 3.5 x 1000/100 = 8.75
sp .30 x 3.5 x 1000/10 = 105
ep .20 x 2.5 x 1000/2 = 250
gp .35 x 7 x 1000 = 2450
pp .25 x 1.5 x 1000 x 5 = 1875
gems .50 x 21 x 194.5 = 2042.25
jewelry .50 x 21 x 1050 = 11,025

Total 17,756 gp

Type B:
cp .5 x 4.5 x 1000/100 = 22.5
sp .25 x 3.5 x 1000/10 = 87.5
ep .25 x 2.5 x 1000/2 = 312.5
gp .25 x 2 x 1000 = 500
gems .25 x 3.5 x 194.5 = 170.19
jewelry .25 x 3.5 x 1050 = 918.75

Total 2011.44 gp
