This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've banned players from running games in my group based on their inability to last beyond the first few sessions, and also players who just can't convince me or the rest of the group that their campaign/homebrew system is worthy of giving a second chance.

Actually my "you're not playing in my group" criteria would be if you have a homebrew system you one day would like to try. The more groups this person has tried this homebrew on increases the chances of them not being asked to join.

If you want to play with shitty gamers you are more then welcome to do so.  I do not and I will not.  This hobby is supposed to be fun and shitty gamers ruin the fun.

Peregrin

Oh, so now Palladium games "damage" players and they need "rehabilitating"?

"In a way, the Lands of Dream are far more brutal than the worlds of most mainstream games. All of the games set there have a bittersweetness that I find much harder to take than the ridiculous adolescent posturing of so-called \'grittily realistic\' games. So maybe one reason I like them as a setting is because they are far more like the real world: colourful, crazy, full of strange creatures and people, eternal and yet changing, deeply beautiful and sometimes profoundly bitter."

So "likes Palladium = shitty gamer".

Very clever.

If you don't mind me asking, what the fuck do you play?

Yes, please enlighten us.

Maid?

:teehee:

Really, I "like" Rifts just fine (haven't really played any other Palladium except Robotech) but I've played it like twice in the last 5 years. Does that disqualify me?

Never played a game of Maid. But I do like making characters for that game. They are so... weird.

I wrote a game called After Sundown. You can Bittorrent it for free, or Buy it for a dollar. Either way.

Yeah, all those Palladium & Star Wars Demo's I've run at local Con's, ruin me for Daedalus' group.

Apparently, I don't play enough the 'One True Way', which doesn't sound anything like the cultish mentality commonly attributed to Palladium fanboi's... :hmm:
Quote from: dragoner;776244Mechanical character builds remind me of something like picking the shoe in monopoly, it isn\'t what I play rpg\'s for.

Maybe F.A.T.A.L.? After all, it's sure different than palladium...

Thats not a rpg, thats a 300+ (whatever the page count) running joke.

Even the author was smart enough to figure out he is a joke and disappeared.

Quote from: GameDaddy;387652Unfortunately, I don't seem to have a true story like this for Kevin Siembieda.

I do. And so do many others.

KS is a good dude.  He's not a saint, but definitely a good guy.   He is honestly devoted to promoting RPG play because they add fun to the lives of other people.

Does he always go about his business in the best possible PR manner?  Nope.  Not at all.

Quote from: IMLegend;389742I can't say it enough, very creative guy as far as fluff; complete shit business man.

Except this "shit business man" has keept a RPG company alive and kicking for 25 years when all the other dudes who started companies in the early 80s are long gone.

TSR is gone.
FASA is gone.
FGU is gone.
Judges Guild is gone.
Steve Jackson is Munchkin Man.
And Flying Buffalo is undead.

But Palladium is alive.   Maybe bleeding and limping, but unlike many other dudes who started RPG companies, Kevin has kept his company alive.

So how can KS be a "shit business man" if he is standing while most of his contemporaries have either bailed on RPGs or just closed shop?

Quote from: Peregrin;390438Jesus tit-munching Christ.

Woot!

Because he could be huge. Not WOTC huge, but much larger and influential. But because of his awful micromanaging, lack of evolution, and piss poor treatment of writers he will never get any bigger. He (Palladium) was worth a twenty dollar bill back in the day and still is. Thats the problem Palladium will never be more than they are now. Is that OK? Sure, just remember a twenty dollar bill doesnt buy as much as is used too.
