This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Balbinus

Quote from: SettembriniSo I still think it´s discussable subject.

To be clear, I agree it's discussable, my contribution to that discussion is to say that I think it's irrelevant.  That's still me discussing it though.

There may be some unintended irony in there that I shall have to reflect on admittedly...

I've only (as in this moment) realised that he isn't :o

Hastur:

If you and Balbinus met, would you annihilate each other in an enormous explosion?

Just wondering... :O

Mystery Man

This is what happens when you allow women to vote. They get these fancy ideas like writing fantasy or something. Get back into the kitchen and stay pregnant!

Ned the Lonely Donkey

It's possible she did it to avoid undue attention from A Certain Type of fanboy.

Likewise, but if he will have a woman's name it's an understandable confusion.

Bloody colonials.  Can't even get their own names right

Hey, my own name could be seen as either masculine or feminine, depending on which country you are from: 'tis "Janne".
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

Just an idle thought... I went by that name for some time after discovering the Usenet for the first time, and nearly all of the folks there mistook me for a girl. Of course, in (for instance) Norway it is feminine. In Finland, it's the local equivalent of "John".

You should talk to Jocelyn Robitaille over on Big Purple. He's continually mistaken for a woman on-line because his name is masculine in French, but feminine in English.  :D

I wonder if he got bullied at school? If he didn't he should have.

Aren't most things that are masculine in French feminine in English? ;)

What's the deal with THIS book:

I'd be embarrassed to have that sitting out in my living room.  As a woman, I would have thought Ms. Borgstrom would have dug in her heels a bit over the cover art.  It certainly isn't very women-friendly as far as RPG cover art goes.

(Karen Healey's blog Girls Read Comics (And They're Pissed) is on my reading list.  She makes some great comments about how unfriendly comics, and comic art are to female fans.  RPG art is, of course, often very similar to comic art.  The cover of that book would make her go ballistic.)

James McMurray

Authors don't generally have a lot of pull over the cover art. Since it was a compilation book by several authors it's likely that Borgstrom sent in her parts, got her money, and that was the end of her influence.
