This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Forgive me if this has already been posted (I haven't seen it pop up here), but this just recently popped up on my radar, and I thought it was pretty cool!

Yeah that was the most fun I ever had watching a TV commercial. I didn't even understand the dialog. I remember the cartoon that was based on. My mom wouldn't let me watch it, cause D&D = "the Devil".
The more clichéd my group plays their characters, the better. I don't want Deep Drama™ and Real Acting™ in the precious few hours away from my family and job. I want cheap thrills, constant action, involved-but-not-super-complex plots, and cheesy but lovable characters.

I'm curious, can we consider this the ending to the series?

They did a great job. All the characters were doing their old habits even. I always liked when the mage would look at his hands every time one of his spells worked.

No. Because too much Hand of God is used by the DM.

Mildly entertaining, but why did this get made? Is D&D popular enough in Brazil that the suits would just assume a commercial based a 35 year old children's TV show will sell cars?

Not D&D per se, but from what I've read over the years online, that cartoon has a HUGE following in Brazil, from what I understand the cartoon still plays today and there's licensed merchandise actively produced in that country.  Their fondness for it is akin to the fondness many have for something like Scooby Doo here.

I'm glad the world has not yet become a monoculture.

And welcome to the board. I assume you're as brave as Eric, and as wise as Bobby.

Well they do have their own retroclone (at least one that I know) and some original systems (Daemon, 3dt+, 4dt+, a 2d6 from Tio Nitro) which is way more than we have here in México.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.
