Title: Beyond the Wall Thought Exercise
Post by: Llew ap Hywel on September 28, 2018, 08:35:38 AM
So although I'm not a fan of the underlying system I really dig the character and community generation of Beyond the Wall. Since work is inherently boring I've been pondering the game and got to wondering how would people adapt it to;

1.       Mythras
2.       Genesys

Could you generate stats and the various accoutrements of a Beyond the wall character with the above? Particularly Genesys which doesn't incorporate random character builds.

I'm not familiar with Genesys, but seems to me Mythras would work well enough, just use their Classic Fantasy supplement which mimics D&D's classes

As Jeremy said...

I reckon you could easily do it with Mythras or better yet Magic world. The RQ system has loads of stuff for rituals as well, which would suit it too.

I changed the entire underlying system to something more narrative. I don't care to explain specifics and you wouldn't be able to use it without my dice software anyway (multiple types of rich dice, one for each stat and some generic extras, with varied distributions of six positive and six negative icons of various meanings). It was fun anyway.

However...

Quote from: HorusArisen;10581942.       Genesys
8 or less = 1 green die
9-12 = 2 green dice
13-15 = 3 green dice
16-17 = 4 green dice
18+ = 5 green dice

BAB +1/+2 = 1 upgrade
BAB +3/+4 = 2 upgrades
BAB +5/+6 = 3 upgrades
BAB +7/+8 = 4 upgrades
BAB +9/+10 = 5 upgrades

Skills = 2 upgrades (or 4 upgrades when taken twice)

AC = 1 black die per dex bonus, 1 or 2 black dice for shield, 1 difficulty upgrade for leather, 2 for chain, 3 for chain & plate, 4 for full plate

Leave HP and weapon damage as is.

Figure out save upgrades somehow.

Translate minor bonuses from knacks and such as blue dice.

Iron out the kinks, but screw Genesys combat system, too complex for this, just roll to hit and damage.
