This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Best way to enjoy new GURPS books?

Given that the majority of the GURPS line is now in .pdf form only, how are the GURPS fans out there using them?

iPads? Ebook readers? Printouts? FedEx Office? Computer only?

Any reliable way to print and bind these suckers?

To my amazement I walked into a number of GURPS 3rd books at the FLGS and they happened to have the two I still wanted to purchase (GURPS Old West and GURPS Arabian Nights). So, fortunately I wasn't forced to get them as pdf.

I have a couple of volumes printed out -- I took them to Staples and paid $15 or so to have them printed and perfect-bound with a nice cover on them.

I tend to use the PDFs themselves when prepping, and flip through the physical books during gameplay. For some reason, I hate stopping play to peer at a computer screen.

I don't have an iPad or a Kindle so I can't help you there.

Steve Jackson Games always has a load of 3e books for sale at Origins, 3 for $10. I just pick up a few books that way every year. I have just about everything I've ever wanted now.

It's interesting to note that only a single response has possibly been about any of the new GURPS 4th product that has been released as .pdf only.

I'm surprised we haven't yet seen "best way to enjoy GURPS books is IN THE GARBAGE HYUK HYUK"

I forgot to mention, I also print out pages of Pyramid and some of the smaller supplements, three-hole punch them, and put them in a binder -- for those times I don't need the entire volume.

So you were trolling for anti-Gurps 4th posts?

No, I was specifically assuming Gurps 4th .pdfs in the OP. What I got was how to buy 3e books cheap. Irony is fun.

I love PDF gaming books, and I buy a lot of GURPS stuff, or have in the past anyway.

I print them out and put them in sheet protectors, two sheets (back to back) for each sleeve.  I then put them in three ring binders.  I have all the Creatures of the Night done up in a single binder that way.  Ditto the Banestorm stuff.

I prefer the real hardbacks for 4th edition, as well as the softcover and POD versions of some 4/e that SJ Games has made available.

Two years ago I picked up the printed versions of the first four 'Dungeon Fantasy' books for GURPS 4/e at Gen Con.

Haven't made the switch to 4th. Don't see the point in it. All of the 4th edition stuff is either uninteresting or redundant. Plus, I hate pdfs.

NO...

The 4th edition books make more sense and are better edited than the 3rd edition books.

There are also plenty of corrections, fixes, and rule changes between 3rd and 4trh. They streamlined things in a GOOD way.

That may be but all that isn't worth it to me.
