Specifically, what are the best paper miniatures for generic sci-fi?
I'm running a space opera game and would like to use some. I think going the paper route will be a lot more efficient than buying a bunch of minis.
Feel free to branch out and let us all know what the best paper miniatures are for other genres, too.
For Paper Minis (just about any genre), I'd say Disposable Heroes (http://www.pigames.net/).
For Paper Terrain, I really dig Fat Dragon (http://www.fatdragongames.com/) games, but some folks swear by WorldWorks (http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/).
The only paper mini's I've used have been Cardboard Heores by SJG. They're still available in pdf. I don't think he made Sci-Fi ones however.
I really like the look of Disposable Heroes. I may end up getting those.

That's probably your best bet. As long as you like the look, then you're good to go.
Beyond artwork, all paper minis use the same basic a-frame design.
I made my own in a half-assed fashion in the past, but I think I might look into getting some of those.
I am definitely intrigued by the Fat Dragon Games stuff.
I just spent 4 hours yesterday gluing SJG Carboard Heroes into A-frames. They're pretty good fantasy minis. One thing I've learned though is that:
1. You can mix metal/plastic humanoids with cardboard non-humanoid animals & monsters, it looks ok on the table.
2. You can't mix metal/plastic humanoids with cardboard humanoids, the cardboard ones look crap.
Cute Board Heroes! (http://www.apolitical.info/webgame/heroes) (um...not really).
Are there any fantasy paper/cardboard miniatures that are sold already printed, as opposed to as pdf's for download?

S. John Ross has a SPARKS (http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/sparks.htm) set called Watch the Skies! (http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/sprkwts.htm) that might be suitable.
I quite like these (http://www.onemonk.com/Home.html) from OneMonk..sort of like Citadel miniatures in paper. The website has a good selection of links to other paper miniature makers as well. Patrick Crusiau has a fantastic bunch of miniatures here (http://www.gwindel.eu/Figurines.html) which are just as nice, and FREE.
If you ever make it over to Vietnam, I'll show you my cardboard miniatures collection. Shipping costs means its prohibitively expensive to get real lead minis over here, but sometimes I start jonesing for a game of WHFB and well...200 cardstock buildings and around 4 armies later my wife finally demanded I put that shit in storage.
I need to step in here and pimp Fat Dragon Games (http://www.fatdragongames.com).
Their miniatures are exceptional, cheap and of fantastic quality. Tom has really began to expand his line in the past year and there is some really interesting stuff there. I can't wait to make my Dwarven mech thingie!
Either way, check them out! Good stuff!
For quick and dirty fantasy stuff, I've used cardstock and the Magic Realm font (http://www.triremis.com.au/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.RealmUtilities), which is a TT version of the icons in the board game.
To make them stand up, I use small binder clips with the little wire handles removed. Much cheaper than plastic stands, and available in a variety of colors, too.

Holy awesome, those from the second link are really cool. Thanks a lot.

Hey, I recognize those! He made a bunch of pods for Gametable out of those as well. They are sweet.
I am trying to find the paper modelling site I used a bunch of years ago to build a village on my cubicle. In the mean time, I have found Space Station 42 (http://www.ss42.com/pt-buildings.html). Looks like decent buildings and such.

Oh, yeah. Here's (http://greywolf.critter.net/fonts.htm) a cool set of paper mini fonts.

I would recommend these as well, also you can edit them to add things like stats or names - quite handy.
I have now added a few pictures of our figures, but i will post some more very soon:

WorldWorks makes some absolutely incredible looking stuff: http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?main_page=index
Only problem was they're all PDFs, and it frankly felt silly to blow money on paper terrain and minis if I have to print them my bloody self.
If they sold pre-printed stuff I'd be all over it for Dark Heresy.
I found out yesterday that unlimited printing is part of the deal I get at the university.
Slight necro here, but does anyone have any blank templates for some like A-frame style minis that fold up to roughly 25-28mm bases?
I was thinking about putting one together myself but the only drawing app I have is the one in NeoOffice.
