Ghost Whistler

Anyone played this?

A martial arts fantasy (don't know if the setting is ancient china proper) rpg using the BRP.

Is it auspicious or should it be consigned to the Hell of the Upside Down Scissors.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I'm no expert but I'm fairly sure it's supposed to read "The Hell of Upside-Down Sinners".

Then again, there's plenty of room for it, too, what with there being Ten Thousand Hells and all. :D

My copy is still on loan but from the short look I got at it it was pretty cool.
I've been looking for reviews of it but everything I read before buying must have been on various forums... BRPCentral and RPGnet.

What's the deal with the 5 (or so) spiritual paths or whatever they are that exist: Enlightenment, The Yama Kings, something else, Corruption, The Way, something else...

sounds intriguing even though BRP is a bit staid for my tastes.

If I recall correctly (I don't have my copy of the book handy), the spiritual paths are just thinly veiled versions of real world Chinese religions/philosophies.  So, enlightenment is Buddhism, The Way is Taoism, The Yama Kings is traditional Chinese polytheism, etc.

Overall, I like the book.  I prefer the rules from MRQ2 to basic BRP, but I think you could do a nice (and pretty easy) tweak to the martial arts stuff from Dragon Lines to include RQ combat maneuvers.  If I was going to run a game set in something close to historical China, though, I'd also want a copy of The Celestial Empire, another BRP book, which is chock full of daily life info for a number of periods.
