True D6 Printed Edition vs Kogarashi

Ok, so the game Kogarashi is one of my new favorite games.  It is set in feudal fantasy Japan-like setting with Samurai, Ninjas, and fantasy stuff like Ryu dragons, Oni demons, and Kami spirits.

There is a fantasy original game galled simply True-D6, but it was written in a weird way using ASCII.  Essentially, it is written as just a text file and you have to view it in Notepad with the word wrap feature turned off to get the charts to work.  It is old school, and has ASCII characters to make headers in double sized font using "/" and "}"characters for example.  Charming to some, but annoying as well to others.  And no art, because it is a text file.

However, I just got back from vacation and found that a new version of True-D6 has been released.  It is called True-D6 Printed Edition (hilariously the printable version isn't yet available on Drive Thru RPG, just the PDF).  The weird ASCII style is gone, and now it has proper artwork of elves, castles, and sword fighting characters on some pages.

This is the classic D&D fantasy type of game with Elves, Dwarves, European Castles, Orcs, and Clerics who are good vs the Undead.

Ture-D6 Printed Edition on DTRPG

At its core the game is different than others in these ways.

1.  1D6 is used instead of 1D20 to hit.
2.  Roll under your or equal to an attribute to succeed at skills.
3.  Attributes are 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, and a 4.  Assign them as you see fit to your six classic attributes.  You cannot "roll" up a bad character, and so no arguing with the GM that you want a roll up stats again or use one of those alternative rolling schemes to get a better setup.
4.  Your attack skill roll is also your damage roll.  This cuts down dice rolling, speeding up combat.
5.  Defense is a savings roll, this time under or equal to your armor, thus making armor a sort of 7th attribute.  The roll has to be under or equal to your armor, and that is how much damage the armor negates.
6.  Magic spells cast as skill check.  Typically you can keep using that same magic until it fails a skill check, but some magic spells are further restricted to being cast just once per day no mater what.

There are some differences between the two games, and it is apparent that True-D6 Printed Edition is the updated set of rules.

For example, in Kogarashi a two handed melee weapon just attacks with Advantage over one handed weapons.  In True D6-PE the Two handers also deal +1 damage.  I looked, and it turns out that the ASCII version of True-D6 is also like this, so I have no idea why it was dropped in Kogarashi.

There are a LOT more races to pick from in True D6 PE, with four classic races, and an additional 11 fantasy races that require GM approval.  Kogarashi has just four races, though two races have six sub-variants, so you could technically say Kogarashi has 14 races if you want to be pedantic.

However, the VAST majority of the rules are damn near identical between the two games.  Just the names are different.  There are some other things that change, like Kogarashi removes Constitution and replaces it with Honor stat, and the bestiary in True-D6 is more D&D as you expect, but there isn't much differences.

I love Kogarashi as a game, and if you wanted to check out the True-D6 system, but don't like Japan, then maybe check out True-D6 Printed Edition.
I'm glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you've never heard of.

I ended up Kickstarting this based on your recommendation in a previous thread.  So far I like what I see, and hope to get it to the table in short order.
