This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dave Arneson's Birthday was yesterday, Oct. 1.  Let us remember him.

He was possibly the sweetest, gentlest person I've ever met.

Until he was across the gaming table from you.  Then he'd tear out your heart, eat it, and cackle gleefully as he did so.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

The rules can\'t cure stupid, and the rules can\'t cure asshole.

RunningLaser

Happy Birthday Dave and thank you!

I met him at a con up here in WA state. Really neat guy.

I know your new adventures are everything you could have ever hoped for Dave. Thanks.

Never met him. Only know him from forum remembrances like this and Playing at the World. Can't really say much except that RPGs would be very different if it were not for him (I have no idea specifically how, but I'm sure they would). Hats off to the man.

:thanx:

Edit: Actually, did he continue to live in MN after the Blackmoor era? I may have met him multiple times without knowing it.

The Butcher

Saw him speak once, at a Con, in Brazil. Here's to him, long may he feast in Valhalla.

Omega

Met him at a com in MN and didnt realize it. Which is the story of my life at cons.

Nice guy. The three DA series of modules he wrote for BX/BECMI were some of my favorites after Keep and Isle.

All hail the Lord of Blackmoor.
