This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Yeah, this.

I'm sure the adventure module is cool and I'll certainly be pledging, but I'd rather be getting The Auran Empire campaign setting. Or Lairs & Encounters. Or Heroic Fantasy. Pretty much in this order.

You won't be happy that I've just been sharing feedback with Alex on Guns of War, then. :p

That looks pretty much complete, though, so won't be taking up much of their time.

I'd only have irrelevant questions about other Autarch projects I'm much more interested in, so just tell him I said "hey".

Quote from: nDervish;825938Offhand, the only thing I can think of that would be a hitch in using ACKS stats with pretty much any other OSR game is that it uses ascending AC, so you'd need to convert that.  Morale ratings seem to vary quite a bit from system to system, so those might need conversion as well.  Everything else should be usable as-is.

ACKS uses ascending AC, but it doesn't start at 10, it starts at 0.

For instance, Chainmail is usually AC 5 (or 15). In ACKS, it's AC4, since it's 4 steps above 0, which is equivalent to games where AC5 is 4 steps better than AC9 (where OD&D and Basic D&D start)

Right. AC 0 means zero armor.

Morale generally converts readily from the morale scores found in BX, BECMI, and RC. Simply subtract 8 from the listed score in BX.

Pundit hasn't called me a "swine" yet in our interview so I think it's coming along well.

Is this area going to be expanded further, basically "demoing" the Adventurer, Conqueror, King phases of the game through the campaign adventures?
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Yes, it will be. There'll be follow on modules as well as a gazetteer for the entire region.

It's into it's last 4 days.

It's well funded, and just brushing up against the second stretch goal of landscape art by Jeff Brown:

http://www.jeffbrowngraphics.com/

which is a great idea - I've long been weary of the usual 'action pose' of a PC. Some sweeping vistas would be a nice change of pace!

My early readthrough here:

http://crowbarandbrick.blogspot.com/2015/04/autarch-kickstarter-sinister-stone-of.html

It's essentially done, and backers at the proper level will get the draft at close of funding.

Bobloblah

I agree on art. Art featuring random characters might be evocative, but I find such art fairly useless in play. Hope the Kickstarter reaches the next stretch goal, as Jeff Brown's art looks amazing!

Pity. I was hoping for the third bonus goal, as the Auran Empire looks a lot like every D&D setting I've ever homebrewed — i.e. a slightly more coherent Known World/proto-Mystara — and I am starving for Auran Empire setting bits.

Great scoop! I admit I initially pledged mostly out of brand loyalty, but between Alex's Pundit interview and your blog entry, I'm really looking forward to it now.

Quote from: JeremyR;825789Anyway, I hope they don't get carried away with the stretch goals. That seems to be the bane of a lot of projects...

Indeed, many seem so distracted by the "stretch goals" that they appear to lose sight of the primary purpose of the Kickstarter.

I'd rather see someone present it as "This is the project you are helping to fund. This is what you will get when I complete it." No added T-shirts and mood rings and frozen bananas dipped in chocolate for pledging a few dollars more.

Raven

60+ hours to go now. Bonus goals adjusted:

$9,500 - One color illustration
$10,000 - Both color illustrations
$11,500 - Both illustrations + Auran Empire Primer

Current pledged is roughly $8,800.

Saladman

Backed!  $160 short of the second painting.  :/
