This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Autarch Kickstarter

Autarch (the guys who do Adventurer Conqueror King system, and carried the  Dwimmermount cross) just launched another Kickstarter, for those who are interested. Looks to be a module in the vein of Keep on the Borderlands set in the implicit ACKS setting of the Auran Empire. Also apparently has a completely worked domain example (the equivalent of the Keep from B2) one could plunk into an existing ACKS campaign. Moreover, it appears they have learned from the Dwimmermount experience, and the module is already written and has some of the art finished.

Personally, I'm happy to see this, as I'm currently running an ACKS open table, and any ACKS content I can steal from lessens my workload.

EDIT: Oh, and to be clear, I've already backed it, if that wasn't apparent from the previous sentence.

If it's 40,000 words, that would be about 80 pages at least (or so I'd guess), so the PDF is a bargain at $5.

Anyway, I hope they don't get carried away with the stretch goals. That seems to be the bane of a lot of projects...

I think (or hope) one thing Autarch has learned is how *not* to clusterfuck a Kickstarter after cleaning up Mal's mess.  I think I'm gonna get this, do the mini-campaign, take a look at the settlement rules and see how it all works.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

I'm in as soon as I get paid.  I love Autarch's stuff.

Meh...I'm still waiting (and waiting and waiting....) for the long promised World KS. Come on, Autarch, stop with the unimportant bits and pieces and give us the damn campaign setting already!!

Ok, after getting the above off my chest:
What i find positive about this one - the prices are reasonable. In contrast to many other RPG KS of late.

If stretch goals include cool maps and other useful stuff PLEASE get carried away. :)

A couple of the pledge levels allow you to pick up the other ACKS books at the same time (ACKS Core, Player's Companion, and Domains at War).

I'm in for $5. If this were the lairs book, or heroic companion or Auran CS I'd get a book but as it turns out adventures are the one thing I do prefer in pdf.

RunningLaser

Silly question- is this adventure usable for those who are not using ACKS?  I know that ACKS is a type of clone, just wondering how close it is to the other clones out there.

Raven

It's based off B/X so you should be able to run this with that or Labyrinth Lord or even AD&D fairly easily.

It's based off of B/X, so, nominally compatible with any D&D-type. ACKS is XP-for-GP, so treasure is set to have a GP value around 4 times the XP value of the monsters.

What ACKS is specifically adding to the adventure; including opportunities for trade and economic details on the domain the adventure is set in, easily lifts out, and you won't miss anything.

Offhand, the only thing I can think of that would be a hitch in using ACKS stats with pretty much any other OSR game is that it uses ascending AC, so you'd need to convert that.  Morale ratings seem to vary quite a bit from system to system, so those might need conversion as well.  Everything else should be usable as-is.
