So, last Friday the gang got together. Last game they escaped through a portal and now they wound up in a pocket dimension, a plantation where Tortles are being bred because their meat is a delicacy. But, change sets in and the Tortles are given lands of their own, which was fine by the plantation's owner until gold was found and the Tortles didn't want to share - read: they didn't want to surrender their gold and lands to their former master. A war broke out and the leader of the Tortles fled to the Radiant Citadel. Now the party must find him and bring him, or at the very least his head, to the plantation's owner.

To raise the stakes for the players, a necromancer turned wight turning lich that has been hounding them for a year now, has made the giant diamond of the Radiant Citadel his phylactery. Thus, it must be destroyed. But, as the speakers of the citadel by unanimous vote can raise a very convenient and lazily-written shield where no-one can pass through or teleport through and deflects all attacks, they must find a way to replace one of the speakers. Luckily, the plantation owner has a cloning machine which can, if fed a character sheet or a body, print out or clone a new person provided the original is dead, destroyed or whatever.

So they must abduct a speaker. Luckily, one of the speakers is interested in ancient artifacts. So the party killed some ettins, a spectator and a beholder, in order to secure an artifact with which to lure said speaker, kill him or her and replace him or her with a clone from the machine. Then, that clone will stop the shield from being raised. That was the end of Friday's session. I'm really interested in seeing how this turns out, and, not to toot my own horn, but the phylactery thing I think is kind of cool.

That sounds fun, though I could only imagine what the reaction of the writers would be if they found out what you were doing with their setting.

I for one alway enjoyed using settings and adventures in ways that were never intended.

Not my tempo. The tortle plantation and all of that lost me at the jump. Having a reoccurring villain was definitely the highlight there, with some really good ideas. Lost me again with the cloning machine :) But..

As long as you and your players are having fun that is all that matters. All the best and good luck!

I'm guessing they're looking to loot, ransack and enslave the population ;)
