This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Akrasia;749708S&W Complete is a better option IMO if you want a 'streamlined' AD&D 1e-ish system.
Yeah, I agree.  I'd go for S&W Complete or OSRIC.  Of course, a lot of it depends on what is meant by "streamlined."
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

This is depressing.

Another company having to rely on kickstarted to get books out.

I am a S&W:White Box fan as my OD&D clone, but if you want AD&D 2.5e, I find that C&C is a top notch game that delivers Old School goodness with an imperfect, but streamlined system.

As for "fixing the Siege engine", I haven't had a problem at the table. Yeah, I know the Cleric vs. Thief Spot Traps thing, but its just not that big of deal at the table. If you want, you can easily just add +5 TN to non-thieves attempting to Spot Traps. Boom! Done.

I don't see the value in a $99 Kickstarter. If you just want to try out C&C, pick up any edition of C&C via eBay. I haven't seen enough "new stuff" in the latest edition when I flipped through it at the FLGS for it to justify replacing my C&C 1e.

To me, C&C is that great lost opportunity that could have become a highly successful game.

Its the new normal for niche hobbies.

Hasbro chose not to market or advertise D&D and no other RPG company has the money to mass market and apparently none of them can focus on guerrilla marketing either.

Dwindling membership =/= healthy hobby

They've updated—only $40k now for the CKG in color, and a lot more stretch incentives, including a custom flash drive, new spell book by Jim Ward, and some adventures. This is getting really, really tough to resist....

$32k and counting...

They have already been to the KS well many times, they already did the PHG in full color on the last go round, so many supports are not happy about having to pay for it again.

Based on personal experience with the trolls, I cannot agree that they are a bunch of good dudes either.  I do heartily recommend ADND3e over the C&C slop, it is C&C refined, with better art, and better editing.  And free.

Cheers
Miniature Mashup with the Fungeon Master  (Not me, but great nonetheless)

Very soon, for $99.99:

3 full color rulebooks in print and pdf
Print index for the 3 books
4 modules
Arms and armor guide
Epic level guide
Several dice
Zip drive with C&C logo
Poster
Character reference sheets
And maybe a magic book and another adventure.

Looks like a heck of a deal.

Zachary The First

Finally pulled the trigger for the $99 level. Looks like they'll hit the $40k level, and that means full color on all 3.

A few hours left on this one. I have to say, I'm pretty excited about all the stretch goals—the adventures, the coins, the dice, and the rest.. Every time I think it's done, they find enough to take down another milestone. Good for them!!

Also, that C&C tankard you can get as an add-on is pretty sweet. There goes the gaming budget for the next few months...

Aw crap. $175 is still a truckload of money (for the $99 level plus int'l shipping) but by Jove it's also a truckload of rewards with the stretch gosls. Nine hours to decide...

Where would the $75 shipping charge be headed to?

Brazil.

Beautiful, exotic, sun-kissed, Chaotic Evil Brazil.

Dang, man, that's a lot of shipping, but it is a heckuva deal. That'd be enough gaming material to go through for a good while.

...And now the last room is opened. Secret door unlocked with bookmark magnifier, and a Aufstrag Part 5 and a giant poster of the dungeon awaiting.

I dunno....4 hours left....that's a pretty tall order!
