This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Problem with this is that several of your "High Adventure" games (Palladium, Rolemaster, Tunnels and Trolls) are so heavily influenced by D&D as to be, setting-wise, indistiguishable. Which is to say, they occupy the same genre niche. I should know, I've run D&D with the Palladium Fantasy RPG setting.

At which does a fantasy game leave the D&D genre? Is Tékumel (in its several incarnations) in the D&D genre of fantasy? Elves and dwarves are nowhere to be found, but there's plenty of dungeon-crawling and leveling-up to be had, and the original EPT system even hews fairly close to OD&D. What about Glorantha? It's got elves and dwarves, though they look like trippy, LSD-generated versions of their mainstream, Tolkienesque predecessors.

Just playing Devil's Advocate with you. I've argüed in the past that I'd like to see you meld most, if not all forums on The Citadel, and I still stand by that opinion. :D

Although it covers a lot of ground, some of it covered by other descriptors,
Supernatural: Supernatural (the game based on the tv series); Werewolf; Vampire the Requiem; conceivably Changeling: The Lost etc., games like that.

I agree, there are large compatibilities.  I maintain they are distinct enough to keep them separate, mostly because of the gamespace they occupy.  For example, you can run Greyhawk using Tunnels and Trolls.  I think it would be a very different experience than using any version of D&D.

Sure, there are a number of common characteristics, but again, playing Talislanta or EPT is a very different experience than playing D&D.  It's not impossible for a Tékumel fan and a Forgotten Realms fan to have a conversation, it's just that they are coming into it with different assumptions, and sometimes very different assumptions.

I am still looking at merging one or two of them to make room for a general discussion forum.  From experience, I haven't seen a 'general topic' forum by itself work very well; ie, "Games" for our hobby,  "Maps" over at the Cartographers Guild, or "Pens" at the Fountain Pen Network.  None of these boards are just one area for posting anything you want to talk about.

Now that summer is here, and I don't have to worry about classes as much, I can get some of these agenda items taken care of.  :)
