This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are there World War I minis?

My group is going to be playing in a Lovecraftian horror game that for the most part, begins during WWI (a bit before the Battle of St Eloi) and, I can't find WWI minis anyplace. There seems to be plenty of WWII minis (at least someone supernaturalized ones), but there doesn't seem to be any doughboys to be had. Do any actually exist?

There are some soldiers for the CoC mini line way back. Also try looking for the Space 1889 line of minis as some might work as well.

Renegade Miniatures used to have a lovely WWI range.  I'm pretty sure Wargames Atlantic has the French and Germans.  I recall Cessna had a big WWI collection in 28mm that he showed off.  They had some tanks in the Bolt Action range but I don't think they did a book.  Coppleston has Russian Revolution stuff.  I think Artizan might have some as well.  HAT will certainly have some 1/72 ones of particularly soft detail and plastic.  I wish I could like HAT I really do, they do such cool stuff.

This fellow in Canada sells some interesting pulp era minis - not a lot of WW I though. https://pulpfigures.com/home/

Yup Bob Murch who sculpted the RAFM Call of Cthulhu miniatures and really quite a bit of their other stuff.

Looks like Artizan has WWI Arabs but nothing else.

Empress has Brits, Germans, and Russians.

Wargames Atlantic have plastic Germans and French. Their British are probably a few months out still.

For the United States (and other nations), if you don't mind metal there is North Star Figures.

Kallistra have British, French/Belgium and German but no Doughboys, unless you're happy to use the British of course.

Do you know the scale on the Empress ones? Those Brits could work I think for PCs. It just so happens that Herbert West was working his bad brew at the battle for St Eloi in "Herbert West - Reanimator."

I see they have British Infantry on their schedule but it is still in "Layout."

I'm afraid I've never ordered from Empress, just drooled longingly over their lovely models.  They also have the old Mutton Chop minis "Windy Chaps" Wind In The Willows as humans figures which I really must own one day, especially the Weasly Chaps with the Lewis gun.

Are you into 3D printing? Because good quality low cost minis are really easy to get if your into 3D printing.

It is something I have been avoiding mostly for lack of time and already having too many nerd hobbies ;-)

I know I could get someone to make some good designs. I actually have a side business licensing 3D content, but that's all created primarily for art and animation licensing, and somewhat for 3d games. But designing for 'digital' I know is quite different than for 3D printing. But yeah, I sort of feel like its part of my destiny to get into 3D printing, having invested so much time into 3D itself.
