This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Man at Arms on March 25, 2025, 12:21:54 AMCan you imagine if wotc would have contracted, with the famous creators of the best most successful projects ever produced by TSR?  That's how you sell stuff to the grognards, and make money.  The grognards have money.

There is a short list of well known names, who could have written some good old school modules for wotc.  Names that could have generated some sales.  But no, they couldn't do that.  It makes too much sense.
Imagine if they produced a version of Rules Cyclopedia and released it as Classic D&D for the 50th anniversary. Spun off a separate group to support this Classic D&D staffed with some of the folks you allude to. Some could bring AD&D modules and titles into alignment with the new rules and others to create new stuff.

That would all have been great, but it was never going to happen with this current corporation.
