The concept that there are different flavors of elves originates with Norse and Germanic mythology, the same mythology that the idea of elves comes from.  In that, elves were from one realm and are powerful magic users.  Dark elves are from a realm of darkness, shadows, and mist and are practitioners of deception and subterfuge.  (There's very little material about dark elves in Norse and Germanic mythology that I've been able to find so it's not well fleshed out in understanding.)     

The idea that there are different kinds of elves was a creation of TSR and borne out or racism is just dumb.

Well I, for one, have always seen tacos as magical.  There has to be some kind of spell involved to take basic food and make it that delicious.

I think we could get away with a "favorite foods for game night," or "food themed for race or class in your favorite game" threads.   Hell, according to Pundit, think you could just say "best elven recipes" and just post tamales and tortas.

I know many Hispanic people and they are all annoyed at the term "Latinx."  One of them told me "only a dumb white girl would think that fucking with my language would be being nice to me."

The vast majority of this kind of nonsense is only from a few of the loudest shrieking voices on the internet. Seldom found in the real world of meatspace, these SJW fanatics sit in their basements at the keyboard all competing only with each other to be the wokest of them all. In the real world these people are easily spotted as they will sport faces that have been punched repeatedly.
