This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anything good come out lately?

Changeling is pretty excellent, and I third McWoD!

Also...Savage Worlds Explorers Edition is pretty awesome! It's pretty much a ready to play RPG for $10.

Danger

I've stumbled across a place where there are some freakin' jems in the used game section.  Just sitting there ignored by the Magic and LAN crowd...all alone...wanting me...calling to me over these many miles..."Danger, we love you.  Danger, we want you.  Danger, you need us."

Oh Gods!  They will be mine!

p.s. No, I'm not telling you what or where.  Nyah.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Two-Fisted Tales Revision is now in stock. It's the definitive RPG of pulp action, with scale ranging from mortals to superheroes, so it's perfect for noir, pulp, and supers.

I'll 3rd Changeling: The lost.  It's quite possibly the most enticing RPG I've read in a long, long time.  I'm for all intense and purposes not a huge White Wolf fan but this game is amazing.  My only complaint is that you need the core new World of Darkness rules to go with it.  But in terms of what you do get with that game and if you have any idea at all of how the system works, you can largely do without the core book.

How does it compare to the original hardcover (2E, I think)?

Quote from: McrowWell, I had thought about getting Slaine back in the day but i'm not the biggest fan of d20. Maybe I'll take a second look. :D

I never got the d20 Slaine either so I don't know how it compares but IMO Mongoose did a good job on the RQ version.  And if you don't like the new MRQ rules, this shouldn't be hard to convert to RQ3.  It is probably my favorite MRQ book so far but I'll have to wait until I've run a few epic Celtic (pre-Celtic?) slap downs for my group to know for sure. ;)

In a nutshell it actually makes all the ideas presented in the original work.  Hard to really pin point anything specific.  But generally things are just better.  All various parts that make up your character are more balanced now.  There are no killer/useless combinations.  The societies and their interactions have better descriptions and the game as a whole feels more focused and tight.  It's a much more manageable concept, especially to explain to someone with no idea.  Before I always found it difficult to get the idea and makeup across to a new player.  I found it even more difficult to a player a book and have them make up a character.  It was always a case of cross your fingers and hope for the best.  That or basically have your players make specific characters to fit a very specific theme.

The re-balancing of the character components makes that much less of an issue and they did a far better job at really narrowing in on what a changeling game is about with good examples.  Now the fact that it ties in with the nWoD setting means you can drop a vamp/mage/were into if if you choose to go that route.  Personally I wouldn't and instead I'd have that sort of creature just be different aspects of the fae or not existing at all.  I mean even the changelings have their fairy tale monsters.

To be honest it's been a long time since I touched the original Changeling.  I remember it was a game I wanted badly to love, but I had to work to get it there by slashing bits out or really struggling to get bits in.   This new version just feels right.

Sorry I can't be more specific.  It's just a solid better game.  You could easily using this game run a Neverwhere style game or a Sandman like experience and anything in between.  The tools are all in place.
