This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Used books meets 'Nerds are cool'

Well, I think that depends on what you want from 'Better'.  Denver's actually doing very nicely for gaming stores - I can think of eight in the Denver area, plus I think I got a flier that a new one is opening up in the next week, although I think I lost the flier and don't remember where it was.

Admittedly, a number of these probably focus more on MtG, but still - there's a good number of stores around these days in Denver.

Oh, duhhh... Black and Read.  Nine stores.

Quote from: Exploderwizard;688111The problem with casual e-bay checks is that people only check current asking prices. You can ask for the moon. The important thing is how much are these items actually selling for?

How many of those books actually sold for 80.00 ?
Pirates and Privateers may actually sell for that, believe it or not.

For those that don't know, P&P was the last d6 Star Wars book. As in, printed when WEG still had the Star Wars license, but distributed just after they lost it (and went bankrupt), IIRC.

It was a small print run, that didn't see much distribution (due to WEG's financial woes). Hence why it's a rare find (I own pretty much everything d6, and it took me about 5 years to find one at a convention).

If you really want to see highway robbery, there was a period of about 5 years where the d20 OCR Starships of the Galaxy by WotC sold for over $200 on e-Bay.

Since Lucas Licensing will never allow PDF material to be made for the RPG (due to the language in it's contracts), Star Wars gamers have had to get used to either paying the big bucks for rare stuff, or piracy.

I'm not seeing the value,  outside of a "completeness" factor.  I flipped through it, and it was mostly just pregen stats.  Idea fodder for me, and maybe some direct application in a d6 setting, but it isn't worth more than $10 for the original use case, from what I can tell.

SAGA edition KotOR campaign guide got up near 200 on Ebay regularly, and the SotG for Saga regularly pulled in 120-150.

And that was when SAGA edition was still in PRINT, because WotC seemed insistent on only one print run for each book.

Prices have dropped now that its not the current game, but I still picked up nearly 100 for my SotG guide, and that was on auction, it wasn't like I was TRYING to get it that high.

Depending on the game or game book, you can make a lot of money from selling online out of print RPGs. The best score I ever had was picking up a copy of the boxed Ringworld game from the Free Bin at the local McKay's (they didn't know its value) and sold it on eBay for $273.
"Meh."

I'm guessing that is the SW marquee alone, right there.
