This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Annoyed at WEG

Quote from: Blue DevilThe problem is that while the system is fun, the companies stupid mistakes are not making it easy to find players?

Why? Because they aren't doing enough to get out the fact that A) WEG is actually in business and B) the system is fun.   I go into the FLGS and know I can pick up D6 books because they are not selling and they are sitting there month after month.

Books that sit in the FLGS arent being read and learned making it hard to find others interested in the system

Do you have an existing group?  If so, just pitch to them what you want to run, and pitch it as idea first and system second.

If not, you do have an issue and probably need to switch system for the time being.  They're thin books though, I'd hang on to them for the time being.

Yeah - it's not like you're talking Hero 4th Revised... :D

Quote from: mhensleyHopefully he has learned some lessons and the new Septimus book will be much better than the rather disappointing D6 books.

I really do not see why the D6 books could not be combined in one and then have the information for various genres.

You get a big chunk of each book that has the same rules and then a small amount of other information.

It is very annoying and really unnessacary

Right now I am between groups (the group I had fell apart due to time issues) so I am looking to get a new group together.

Hopefully it will happen soon

It would really suck if my favorite gaming company made stupid decisions...

Good luck with that.

Enthusiasm in my experience counts for far more than what ruleset you use.

Hell, I'd play AD&D for example if Dr Rotwang was running it.

It's the love that matters, system matters but not really very much at the end of the day.

Eh.  I'd pay $500 to use D6 if I had it.  THe company needs the money, they can't afford to just give it away like Wizards does, because they arent' that big, and because that system's all they really have to offer.

I liked the old D6 system, and compared to the kinds of license fees you'd pay for any other system (provided they'd even let you license it), $500 is a sweet ass deal.

Just because someone doesn't jump on your pet favorite fad doesn't mean they've made a bad business decision.

Quote from: Blue DevilDoes it piss you off when your favorite game company does something that appears to be totally stupid that will hurt more then help your favorite game system grow?
As a matter of fact, it does not. I find the disappointment associated exhilarating and refreshing.

Honestly, considering the industry and the numbers of possible licensees, $ 500 isn't profitable. I suspect it's mostly done to prevent free D6-based games.

There's a quote of mine that still shows up in Funksaw's .sig on RPGnet:

"If I went and avoided every game line, or company, that did something completely farkin' retarded at any point, I'd never play anything."

I know the company needs the money but it's a system that has been out of the limelight for awhile, redone and really has to reprove itself to the hobby.

Expecially in light that there are a many low cost and free systems out there (some better known the D6).   Remember, D6 has faded from many people's memory

Quote from: J ArcaneJust because someone doesn't jump on your pet favorite fad doesn't mean they've made a bad business decision.

No, but doing something stupid like setting the bar too high for small companies to use the system IS a bad business decision.

They need to get the system out there, being used by people so that more people can get to know the system.

I go into my FLGS's and the D6 books just sit there selling.  They aren't working to really get the word out.

I would say they made some mistakes
