This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

An adventure for Forward to Adventure!

I finally got around to finishing a dungeon that for FtA that has been mostly done for a month.  Under Ubern is the outcome of me testing/playing with the dungeon generator and the rules in FtA.  The dungeon layout is probably fairly typical of what you'd get from the tables and is similar to most old school dungeons.  The map has suffered from resizing but I don't feel like messing with it.

The dungeon is intended for Forward to Adventure for new characters.  It's not too fancy or complicated but should be suitable for an evening of killing monsters.  You could use most other fantasy rules systems by subbing out the monster stats - you could also use FtA with most old school dungeons as well.

Nicephorus, I am totally digging this adventure of yours!  I was rereading the dungeon charts a day or two ago and thinking about a similar project.

Question:  Did you find rolling for doors onerous?  I believe Settembrini said he thought the door subsystem was a bit overwrought and it certainly looks cumbersome on paper.

I didn't have a problem really. I used two dice of differing colors, one for locked, the other magically sealed. It could be simplified into a single roll on table.

I made a set of tables that are nearly equivalent mathmatically to the multi-step procedure in FtA!

Door Type and Position

(2d6)
2 End Passage
3 Floor Door to a Room
4 Secret Door at End
5 Left Door
6-8 End Door
9 Right Door
10 Secret Door at End
11 Floor Door to a Hallway
12 End Passage

Door Characteristics *
(2d6)
2 Stuck
3 Stuck and Trapped
4 Stuck
5 Trapped
6-8 Normal
9 Magically Locked
10 Locked
11 Locked and Trapped
12 Locked

* I ignored the possibility of stuck and magically locked and
locked and magically locked.

estar, I have a very similar pair of tables on a legal pad at home laying on top of my copy of FtA!  I kept stuck.magically locked and locked/magically locked though.  If I do my own FtA! dungeon for publication I will be highly tempted to include a door that is stuck, locked, trapped, magically locked.  And secret.

That leads to an empty room.

That will keep 'em guessing.
