This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Yann Waters

Quote from: RPGPunditThe last time I saw him he was leaving
amidst smoke and gunfire,
contented and naked:
he was killing miscreants
with his canon of the future.
Hrm. In Nob, this man could easily be a Warmain who descends to the Earth while attempting to understand what it is that he's meant to destroy, and ends up bringing peace in the only way that he knows. The only thing missing is a pale horse, but then not all of them have those.
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

Dude, naked, gunfire, future! It's Ahnold!

That would work, too. It's just that the details fit: an alien "being from nowhere", wandering from one world to the next, learning about emotions and wonders, apparently invulnerable, with a natural penchant for killing...

All of which perfectly describes both Ahnold _and_ the Terminator!

Just so you know, the original context of the song is that it's a song about Abel Santamaria, who was second in command of the raid on the Moncada cuartel in Santiago de Cuba in 1953 (an unsuccesful military action by the revolutionaries in Cuba).  Abel was later killed by the Batista Regime; and his sister, Haydee, founded the "House of the Americas" after the revolution in 1959.  The "House of the Americas" became the Cuban Revolutionary government's major center of music, art and culture for latinamerica, and it was where Silvio Rodriguez started his career.

That said, many people don't know this story, and I've often heard it generally assumed that the song actually refers to Che Guevara, even though that's not true.

But in either case, its about a Revolutionary, about the development of revolutionary thought, and about how the revolutionary defeats his opponents even in death, because his real weapon is the future.
