This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Amazon raises free shipping threshold (again)

I didn't see anything about this, so thought I'd share.  I know this isn't really gaming related, but I'm sure many people buy rpg books from Amazon, so thought it was relevant.  If not, please move to somewhere appropriate.

Many have probably noticed, but just in case some haven't, Amazon has raised the minimum purchase $ required for free shipping.  It is now $49 (up from $35).  Not sure when this happened, I just noticed last night.

There is an exception.  You can get free shipping on eligible books with only a minimum order of $25.  And if you have $25 worth of qualifying books, any other qualifying items ship free as well, even if your total is less than $49 (example: if you buy $25 worth of books and then a $10 item that is eligible, you get free shipping even though the total is less than $49).

Just a warning so no one gets ambushed by unexpected shipping charges.

Yeah, Amazon raised the free shipping threshold to $49 yesterday.  Amazon Prime FTW.  Granted, I do the vast majority of my non-grocery shopping via Amazon (including RPGs), so it's worthwhile for me.  It may not be for others.

Glad I got a good deal on amazon prime. The free and quick shipping is great, and I've watched a few things on amazon video.

Battle Mad Ronin

They removed the free shipping deals entirely from their North European sites a few years ago. Which never made a lot of sense to me, because when I order stuff for my backwards corner of the Old World shipping fees is what makes or breaks a deal. Either the shipping just got too expensive or the market was too small.

US Postal Service International rates went up considerably in January. It must be a world-wide thing.

Just wish they had a Korean site. However they have really lowered their international shipping prices a lot over the last few years so I was able to get some Christmas toys for junior shipped cheap enough to undercut the local Toys R Us.

Very shitty.

I'm surprised they don't.

I use coupon codes to get free shipping from Amazon. But it is good to know about the $25 shipping for qualifying books and still have non-books thrown into the mix. I'll pass it on.

It's likely a government thing, as opposed to Amazon not wanting more money.
