Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Greetings!

Another new guy here making a somewhat horrid introduction post.  What can I say?  I am not that creative.  Regardless, it is nice to find a forum where I can talk shit with people who share some common interests with me!

I have been playing table-top games since about '99 or so, cutting my teeth on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying 2nd edition.  Compared to some, that is a pretty short time I know.  Still though, holding interest in something for almost two decades is a lot longer than some of my other hobbies.  I GM the majority of the time.  I enjoy running a game far more than I do playing in one.  Which is fine with my players, because most of them don't like the GMing aspect of the game.

Currently I am building my own campaign setting/world using the Chronicle System, the engine powering Green Ronin's A Song of Ice and Fire roleplaying game.  While playing a game set in Westeros doesn't really appeal to me,  I did fall in love with the rules.  The game opened my eyes to the wonderfulness that is classless RPGs.  I hope that one day Green Ronin publishes a collection of rules for The Chronicle system.  But I seriously doubt they will.

Outside of RPGs I enjoy reading, movies, history, and collecting manga (Japanese comics)

Well, I hope to get to know some of you better in the future!  If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hi! Pretty new here too. Lots of interesting conversations. Be interesting to hear about your setting.

Welcome both of you to wacky world.

Heres your complimentary WWII helmet. Hope you survive the shelling.

Hey hey. :)

WFRP is indeed pretty awesome. I've run a few single-player games of it, and I love the mix of black humour and down-to-earthness. I keep meaning to try to get a proper full-group game together, but I keep running into the problem of what sort of situations I could set up for a randomly generated party - when it's just a single player, their starting career always gives me plenty of ideas, but I'm not sure what scenario I could come up with that would involve, say, a noble, a beggar, a scholar and a ratcatcher.
Add me to the ranks of people who have stopped posting here because they can\'t stand the RPGPundit. It\'s not even his actual opinions, though I strongly disagree with just about all of them. It\'s the psychotic frothing rage with which he holds them. If he ever goes postal and beats someone to death with a dice bag, I don\'t want to be listed among his known associates, is what I\'m saying.

Welcome to the site, both of you:)! I've also been running and playing since 1999, but I take my stay here as a way to check what people with vastly more experience think of my ideas.
Sometimes I still don't follow their advice, but it's always worth listening to.

BTW, I agree WFRP2 is awesome. I am wondering, though, why did you pick the Chronicle system for your setting instead of some generic one?

What are "scenarios" for;)?

I don't think I understand the question. Though I do suspect that it contains some form of implicit criticism for not being sandboxy enough. :p

Welcome N00B, just remember whatever games you like suck and if it's the same as mine you are playing them WRONG!

I love Warhammer 1/2e, Shadowrun 1/2/4e, DnD 2/5e and Mage the Awakening 2e. So yes I can hate your preference with no guilt since most sane people hate mine.:)

Thank you all for the warm welcomes!  I shall take that WWII helmet and hunker down and make it through the shelling the best I can!

Character generation! Chronicle System does it in a way that I haven't seen before.  You get a certain amount of experience points for buying your stats and skills based on your age.  The older you are the lower your stat cap is, but you have more to spend on skills, and vice versa.

I also really enjoy how all your skills are based on your main stats.  Like the Fighting Stat.  Within it you have all your fighting related skills, which will add to your dice pool ect.

Also, it is super easy to take out all the A Song of Ice and Fire related stuff, leaving you with an amazing and pretty simple classless system.

I can go on and on about it, but I won't clutter up this post with all that!  Fell free to PM me more if you haven't heard much about the setting.  I always love to share! :)

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Quriously enough, I didn't mean a sandbox or not sandbox:D. My point was, why should your "scenario" take care of involving all of the PCs?
Involve one, then tell the PC to explain how he or she gets the others involved;).

I don't know, because giving more attention to one players than to the others is likely to cause resentment - and worse, boredom - in the ones who get left out? It seems like a bad idea to me.

And I'm not that fond of asking players to explain stuff, either. For the simple reason that I don't like it when GMs do that to me when I'm a player. It's like, "dude! If I wanted to be creative, I'd be GMing! The reason why I'm taking a turn playing is so I can turn my brain off! Just give me something to mindlessly react to already!" :D
