Title: Am I a racist for denouncing the Radiant Citadel as such?
Post by: Kerstmanneke82 on June 01, 2022, 04:52:46 AM
So, about a month or so ago I was removed from D&D's page on facebook, without warning. The reason for this was that, apparently, I have been saying racist things - mind, I have not done so nor was it ever told to me in such words, I can only guess.

What I have said is that however the intention of the Radiant Citadel is a good one, as I applaud more diversity instead of killing the nth troll using a club, going to your boss (in this case Crawford) and saying that you want a book specifically written by black or brown people, thereby excluding all kinds of other colours, is racist, however which way you throw it.

Some people said that can't be, as racism apparently is about power and privilege and white people have the power (I'll try to remember that as I'm driving to yet another day of dull, dull, dull work), therefore, one cannot be racist against white people, even going so far as to call me racist.

So, who is the racist, Ajit George (creator of the product) or myself?

Fixed that for you

That's an easy question - Ajit is, you are not.
Leftists play semantic games and like to redefine things out of recognition. In their eyes whites are all privileged and therefore fair game, kind of like how a certain group thought about the Jews 80 odd years ago.

You're not a racist. You are, however, stupid for supporting Radiant Citadel.

Can't argue with that!

I admit I might've come in a little harsh there. But come on. Radiant Citadel is basically a wussified, bland Sigil. It can't hold a candle to Planescape. Hell, it's not worthy to shine the boots of Cormyr or the Dalelands.

Don't give them your money.

I see what you mean. And to be honest, it's more out of stupid loyalty than anything else.

Stupid loyalty is what they want to breed. Taking a page from Games Workshop. Cattle. Not even cultists anymore. Just mindless cattle happy to be slaughtered and bled out of those dollars. Better yet if those cattle are fattened on your agenda pogroms. BGG has whole herds of these things.

I must clarify: stupid loyalty and the unavailability of anything else - same as miniatures... Nowadays Bones (reapermini) has got as good sculpts as Wizkids but my LFGS won't stock these. Same as with, for example, FAGE as opposed to 5e. Even Pathfinder is hard to come by.

You're not the racist here.

Regarding the whole "you can only be racist if you have power and privilege," if you're white, next time try posting your opinion from a country where you're in the minority and have no power or privileged. Fly to India, post your opinion, and enjoy the immunity!! Surely the woke will respect that.

"....saying that you want a book specifically written by black or brown people"

Oh man, I agree, this sort of thing always makes me cringe. I have had all sorts of people in my classes, including plenty of "POC" (whatever that means, do Iranians count, but not Armenians?). Sometimes, even people who I thought looked similar had totally different backgrounds (e.g. one being from Ethiopia the other being from old African-American families). In other words, people need to learn that "brown and black people" have absolutely nothing in common apart from being more pigmented than white people.

Yeah, lumping everyone with particular pigmentation into a homogenous group regardless of their ethnicity is racist.

While Ajit has followed in the footsteps of his father (a self-made millionaire) and put his wealth to charitable ends, he nevertheless belongs to one of India's most privileged castes and his net worth is in the millions, so has more power and privilege than most of us will see in this lifetime.

Funny you mention that, as Ajit avoided the term 'PoC', which is odd as neither Koreans nor Chinese are typically described as 'Black or brown'.

Before I can decide who is racist I need to know who thinks Orcs are bad guys.

That's the beauty of redefining terms. You are a racist. According to their definition.
You literally can't talk to these activist types, as they may as well be speaking a different language.

Then order the things you really want online. I'm all for supporting gaming stores, but if they're only stocking the products of racists, well, once more you're probably showing too much loyalty.

Unfortunately shipping and customs are about half what I pay. E.g. I bought one of GR's books (one of the AGE ones, I don't know) and it was worth 30 or so dollars, paid around 80 in total.
