This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I work in a factory. My daily schedule is dictated by the timing of a machine cycle. Depending on the job, every 60 to 120 seconds I have new parts arriving. It's just the nature of being a press operator. But in my head, I don't think 'machine cycle'. In my head, I am thinking 'round'. I actually find myself having an internal dialogue about what I need to do, 'next round'. I am a gamer, to the bone.

I spend a good part of my day role-playing someone who actually cares about his job, does that count?

During an ongoing TRAVELLER campaign you and two other players are at a mall, casually look at the top level of the parking garage and wonder if an Empress Marava-class freighter could land on it safely. (and if the scale was correct as we imagined it)

I was terrible at that; it's why I had to go back to school.

Same here, but in the opposite direction.  Many years ago I gave up a tenured professor job at a liberal arts type college, for the private sector.
