This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Agon, yes, it rocks.

So I ordered Agon last week from IPR and got it yesterday and I'm very impressed with it. Eventually, I will get around to doing a review.

Burning Empires & CoS were my top indie/forgie games, but with Agon coming in thats gonna change.

anyone else have this yet?

No. Do you have a link to some information?

From what I've heard, it's very competetive...does that help the game, Mike?

Well, as long as you go into the game knowing there is a level of competition involved, yes , it does.

There is a winner of the game, but I don't see that as a bad thing. At times your characters will be working together to defeat monsters @ other times you may be working against each other. The idea of the game though is to have your character become Legends, like those Homer wrote about. The concepts is very cool and the mechanics are not so far out there as you may expect from an indie/forge game.

Not to mention it is one of the more pretty indie books as well. Nice clean layout, simple but fitting art, and writing is good.

You should play that sucker. I haven't got it but I've played it and it's good fun.

Looks very cool! So much so, I've gone and bought the PDF.

On which matter... Anyone else get the PDF? How long did it take Mr Harper to send you a download link or whatever? I'm being impatient! :)

Thanks for the buzz, folks! I'm glad to hear that Agon is rockin' ya.

I handle PDF sales manually, so the turnaround depends on whether or not I'm asleep. :) It's always within 24 hours, though. PDF sales will be moving to an automated system in the next few weeks, so it won't be an issue anymore.

I have a large stack of reviews to get through, but at some point I'll do a full review of it.

Some people may be turned off by the competitive nature of the game, but I like it. Makes sense to a point being that Greeks of the time were very competitve people. Also, whats more cool than building a legendary greek hero?

A review would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Just to confirm that John got the PDF to me within a few hours of the order. And mighty fine it looks, too. Really looking forward to playing this!

I've heard a lot of good things about this game.  John, can you fill me in real quick about how the system works to reinforce the theme?  Or a quick run down on how it works in general?

So, today I opened up this thread for the first time, finally learned what Agon is, and by some coincidence, tonight is the opening of 300.  I have an itch.  An itch...I...need...to scratch!
