This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just wondering.

No - not till reading your post just now. Trying to decide if you are friendly "spam" or not.

When I saw the thread title , I thought it was referring to the old RPG from the 1980s called "AFTERMATH" . That game was pretty popular for a couple of years.

This is what a really cool FANTASY RPG should be like :

The same thing came to mind for me. I thought maybe someone here was involved with the site, since this forum has so many members who favor modern role-playing.

Maybe I should ask at the other RPG forum. Seemed like this was the place to ask.

Give it a day or two .
 Maybe someone will know.

Just wondering.

I remember the aftermath rpg, a kind of generic post apocalypse game with extremely detailed and complex rules, designed to cover any PA setting, from nuclear war to alien invasion to climatic change.

It was pretty intense for it's day, with some very emotional writing, something like "Your little girl died asking for a drink of water you didn't have to cool the fever of the alien bacteria that was killing her. You were naturally immune, but she didn't inherit it. Now all you've got is the urge to kake the invaders pay."

Fairly intense writing for the mid 80's. It was dinged for it's complexity and vast numbers of charts tho, IIRC.

Yeah, you're making the same mistake we all are, Nox.  I thought this was about the old (FGU?) game, too.  I've never seen hide or hair of this new beast.

Well, I'm surprised they can use a title to an old game like that without some disclaimer that it isn't the classic aftermath.

I don't recall, but fgu may have made it. When it comes to PA games in print, I think the morrow project is about the oldest, unless gamma world's still in print and you count it....

It's not the game the OP was talking about, but your recollections of FGU's Aftermath are pretty much spot on.

It doesn't look like an actual game, just a forum for PA-style games. I mean post-apocalypse, not personal attack, although I guess you can pbp at both...

EDIT:
And...

Given the tone and conent of most post-apoc games, I think it's fair to categorise them as "personal attack" games.

Yeah, this seems to just be a fan site for fans of post-apoc games.

It'll be a good place to pimp my current project if it ever hits print.  ;)

"Living Steel" would  get my vote as a great, unique PA game because it was a PA type game with one of the most unique alien races ever done for an RPG.

Too bad the full info on them was never released.

Could you explain a bit more?  I'm not familiar with the game or the race.

Check out the info there, including the eerie and unsettling illo of a spectral major warrior. Any questions after reading it, ask me.
