Title: Afraid of Girls meets Babylon Bee meets 5E
Post by: honeydipperdavid on December 04, 2024, 05:07:53 PM
So Babylon Bee took on the 5E handbook and the S&M safe word, pronoun cult and cute beholders + plus mixed in the old Afraid of Girls video series (if anyone here never saw them before, watch them its one funny take on two dudes playing D&D and being the stereotype.  My favorite was when Doug Dougalson was actual a druid in real life and was cursing his brothers Christian Satanic Panic wife.)

I wish it weren't so accurate.

I like they got some of the old 1E books.  So at least someone played AD&D or they have people who played enough to know what to buy for a video.

I just love that they had to include disclaimers for the crazy shit they did not make up.  :-)

D&D has become totally uncool again. But instead of being played by nerds, as in the past, it will soon only be played by mentally unstable weirdos.

I know it's satire, but it looks frighteningly accurate.....

I wanted to share it in a group chat but just yesterday they mentioned using X card was part of the "speaking with others like an adult" part of solving problems on the table.

On the plus side they also talked about how old SF-F art of Frank Frazetta, Bruce Pennington, Gerald Bloom etc. hits differently so its not all lost cause.

My favorite bit was when they were throwing up the X sign at the mention of killing dragons, but I'm a long-time proponent of the idea that dragons work best as symbols of elemental and/or preternatural Evil. Also for this understated bit:

Tiffany: "Oh, and in case you didn't know I'm half-dragon."
Chris: "You mean your character's half-dragon."
Tiffany: "No."

So hilarious! Great video though I think. Captures perfectly how delusional and absolute nutty that Woke Liberals have become in this country. Sadly, our hobby has been deeply swallowed by so many of these morons, it is difficult to avoid them entirely.

SHARK

Watched this yesterday on my YouTube feed.

Both very funny and yet...sad.

Please Elon Musk! Buy Hasbro and kick the rainbow haired nutjob brigade to the curb, and get some REAL game designers!

In my younger days, like mid 20's, no one heard of the culture war nutjobs outside of New England, Ivy League and the very wealthy in West Coast cities, I dated a chick into Vampire the Masquerade from Seattle.  She called herself "pansexual", 36D and a nice hour glass didn't really care past that she wasn't wife material but fun for a ride. And listening to her describe the people she LARP'd with, well that is who is writing D&D and whom they are aiming the product.  When I think back to that neurotic chick, its like "my god, that is D&D's target demographic".

The D&D developers are pretty much on the nutter side.  All Hasbro requires is one hell of a financial wake up forcing the board to implement targets for products and those who can't meet said targets be fired.  A lot of the issues at D&D would be fixed.  There are two lawsuits (one financial, one for racial discrimination) going live at Hasbro, maybe there will be some change by court of law.

This would be even funnier if it wasn't actually happening. That regular guy at the table probably felt like Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park. " Will there be any Dungeons or Dragons on this D&D tour?"
