Well, our characters are at the point of starting to shape the world, we're currently chasing some Mcguffin in the hands of the Yuan-Ti in exchange for help from the Storm Giants to deal with a Lich that already caused a dessert millenia ago and keeps on trying to bring some evil demon into the world.

Come what may we've agreed this adventure is a great place to close the campaign and maybe switch to another game/system, on the table so far: WH40K Rogue Trader, SotDL

Sugestions?

First: HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS on running a multi-year campaign!!!!! That takes skill to achieve and good players to help get it there. Grats to you and your players. But mostly to you. GM'ing is usually only valued long after the fact. So take a bow in the now and rest easy on a job well done!

Second: Next campaign recommendations.. are these your offerings? Or are they what your group collectively is mulling over? I've never run or played Rogue Trader, but I'm fascinated by it. SotDL I have more knowledge about, but it certainly is a very specific feel for its setting. What system are you going to use to run them? Native? Or you going to convert to something specific?

SotDL is something that has always piqued my curiosity, but the sheer volume of material for it has always kept me from really getting invested in it.

Congrats! It's always good to see 2nd ed get some love, and a multi-year campaign concluding (and not just fizzing out) is an RPG achievement.

I don't know your group. Personally, I'm chomping at the bit to GM some Cyberpunk 2020 or Red.

Looks like I wasn't clear enough, I'm playing not running.

The Witcher RPG is now also on the table.

I've never run/played anything Warhammer so it's interesting, the GM is using the native system with his own houserules, If we go for Rogue Trader I can put a good word so you can join the game Tenbones, we play Saturdays 3 or 4 pm to 6-7 pm my time (CST I think).

Same goes for anyone that wants to join in, we play over roll20 every saturday.

Now that you mention Cyberpunk I would love to play some too, if you get a group going and play on roll20 let me know Ratman_tf.

I like Rogue Trader.  I feel it's the best game set in the 40k universe.  That said, whoever is running it is going to have to put in some overtime to keep it from getting repetitive.  Still, it makes for about 8-12 great sessions as a palette cleanser.

I don't like SotDL because the themes are just too heavy.  It's very similar to 5e with the way it works mechanically though.

My suggestion for a game and system would be Cepheus Engine/Traveller.  It's a versatile sicfi game that can be used to run any kind of sub genre you want, even if most people do a Taipan type of campaign.  I use the system to run Cyberpunk.  Cepheus Engine has inbuilt settings for a wide array of different settings.  Want The Expanse?  Run Orbital.  Want Alien? Run Hostile.  Want 1950s space opera?  Run These Stars are Ours.  There's setting material for Star Wars and Star Trek too.  Star Gate would be very easy to do.  So would Event Horizon, Space 1999, Battle Star Galactica, and The Fifth Element.

Ooo! Interesting. I've never played The Witcher, but heard a lot about it.

I'd be glad to have you, but I don't play online. Can't stand the "chat dissociation".

Sad in a way.  2E and Darksun were some of the best platforms for long campaigns I engaged in.

Congrats. It is always gratifying to get a multiple year game to an actual ending.

Congrats. I'm just starting a "hopefully" multi-year 2e AD&D campaign with Night Below as the base. My player's and I are pretty stoked.

Love Cyberpunk 2020. Cyberpunk Red... has issues. It has elements that are very good, but they really fucked up on the their gear. Fortunately you can convert all the CP2020 gear over, but ultimately I'd just upgrade CP2020's Roles to CPRed's and use the CP2020 core rules.

That said - I can't play on Saturdays since that's *my* game night too! hehe.

Witcher - looks like a lot of fun. I own it, never ran it. I've considered it and tossed it on the table a few times, and my players are superfans of the videogame, but the debacle with the TV show caused their stock value to drop through the floor. I've read most of the books (they're meh - the videogames are better), so I'm primed to run the Witcher, but my players are more into SWADE now (which is my demon I summoned and can't get rid of). I'll get to the Witcher someday.

The Witcher...

If you're looking at The Witcher, there's two things I think you should know before deciding on playing it.

First, it's based on Fuzion by R Talsorian Games.  (It is their product, after all)  That means that combat is very technical.  It's on par with some of the miniature war games I've played.  This isn't a knock, I like this kind of thing, but it's not for every table.

Second, the core of what Witchers are is poorly explored in the material.  Witchers are professional monster hunters.  The game should have a robust system for engaging in the business of hunting monsters and it doesn't.  In the end, it's just another high fantasy game.

Cyberpunk 2020 is good. I love the game.  I recommend getting a hold of Interlock Unlimited.  It's a collection of house rules that smooth out some of the rough spots.  You can get it for free here: http://datafortress2020.com/InterlockUnlimited.html

oh for sure - you can't go wrong with CP2020 and Interlock Unlimited. Wisdom00's work on that material kept CP2020 going for years.

I don't want to sidetrack too much on CP2020, but if Geeky, you guys want to go into CP2020, I'd be happy to help out with any rules questions/variants/house rule stuff. I have a half-finished conversion of Cyberpunk Red to SWADE via Interface Zero (I call it Red Zero) which took all the stuff from CP2020/Red and converted to SWADE using Interface Zero mechanics as a template.

If you go the CP route - or just wanna talk about that system and setting, make a new thread. I'm sure a lot of people will pile in.
