Goodman Games has posted a pdf that has player version of the maps found in Points of Light. The maps omit or distort the information on the GM Map.

Cool, thanks.  I'm looking at integrating Wildland into my campaign (current area is north of the 'Pyrenees', Wildland makes for a Rhone valley type area to the east), so this should be handy.

BTW Rob, where do you see Southland being located in relation to the other 2 maps?  I saw a reference to Borderland's Altus mountains being 1000 miles north of Wildland.  I'm thinking of using Southland as the frontier of a new kingdom expanding into former Bright Empire (IMC Sharan Empire) territory.

Sound like you are doing exactly what I intended the product to do. Hope your players have fun with it.

Probably north of Borderland which is north of Wildlands. The Westwall run south east and either hits or stops just before the Altus Mountains.

I am not working off of a master plan of a setting. This helps me make sure each map is focused on whatever them I am trying to write out. But I also not trying to exclude the possibility either.

All I know for sure that the Great Kingdom on the eastern end of some great continent with a coastline to the east and that it is in the southern hemisphere of the planet so it gets colder the more south you are.

The next one, Beyond the Sunrise Sea, will have all three lands and the plane set roughly at the same "time" as it deals with the exploration of the "New World". I supply more info about the time period of Grand Kingdom as found in Southland. I also introduce two new rivals for the Grand Kingdom.

The three lands each deal with a different "edge of the known world" situation. Like Acheron the fourth planar land, Mazatl, reinforces the plot found in the other three.

The more I see from this product and the more I hear people talking about it the more I want it. Thankfully my birthday is in a month and half. W00t.

OK, sounds good.  I'm thinking, in my unmapped PoL setting, that south is hot, since I'm basing my ideas loosely off the geography of medieval Europe, with some east-west stuff swapped around (eg 'Arabia' is at the western end, with 'Ethiopia' to the south).  Your suggestion works well for me since I had the idea that the Grand Kingdom could be an analogue of early-medieval Russia, recently converted to the Holy Church of the Unconquered Sun (my Orthodox Christianity analogue, with a bit more Zoroastrianism), and now crusading to reclaim the lost lands of the Empire.

I love how working from PoLs, rather than mapping everything out in advance, really spurs the imagination and keeps things fresh and exciting for the GM.

Been scribbling furiously on sketch maps the past half hour, moving PoLs around willy-nilly to get what feels right.  :)  Something just clicked with me, I had a PoL (Holmgard & the White Marches - http://www.geocities.com/s.t.newman/Holmgard.jpg ) which I wanted to use but had terrible trouble placing.  Now I know what to do: I'm putting it due south of Wildland!  Looks like a perfect fit.  :)

I have some ideas for using Wildland IMC.  Possibly the dwarves send emissaries west to my main campaign area (one of the PCs is a far-travelled dwarf), asking for help to drive the Baphomite (Sarrath) invaders of the Skarite lands* back into the sea.  That would allow for a fairly high-level military/diplomatic campaign.

*My campaign is set in a prolonged dark age around 1,000 years after the fall of the Bright Empire/Sharan Empire, so I'm tweaking the setting details accordingly.

Sounds very interesting - I should be able to make good use of this in a year or so... *rubs hands*  :)

CAST NECRO! ARISE!

These old links to the maps are dead. I'm looking for the players maps for Points of Light. Anyone that can help?

Blake

The link to the player maps just worked for me. However, firefox flagged it for security and I had to click to ignore it to open them.

The first link was to a product page, with links to reviews, the player maps, and a pdf preview of one section. You can access it on the internet archive in one of the 2008 captures.

The reviews are

Good timing I should be done with my followup that is compatible with PoL by the beginning of next year.

Into the Majestic Fantasy Realms.
It will consist of 4 12" by 18" poster maps. It will be set in the time period of Blackmarsh and Southland where the Grand Kingdom has risen from the ashes of the Bright Empire and is an expanding power.

Teodrik

Thanks a bunch. After fiddling around a bit I got the download to work. Looking forward to estars next offering.
