This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Achtung! Cthulhu - Savage Worlds - What's your take on battles?

So our Savage Worlds version of Achtung! Cthulhu is out now and we're toying with the idea of a supplement covering company sized actions in the war. I know Cthulhu games should be more about investigation and less about gun-toting but after all this is the war and I know a few players are going to want to be trying that mission at the opening scene of Hellboy....

Of course it's easy to weave investigation around the actions of squads and companies but give me some help on this. The Savage Showdown skirmish rules are probably a squad or two, and I think the Mass Battles rules are more major forces, but what about a company size facing off against a company. Like a standard Flames of War miniatures game? We're talking 3-6 platoons. Or it could just be a few tanks and squads to give your game a different twist. Imagine the professor and heroes exploring the ruined tomb, battling the Black Sun agents whilst their company of troops holds off the German forces.

What would you tweak/change to allow the company size battle to be played out as more than a handwave, less than a full blown wargame (we don't want to re-invent the wheel) and something more exciting that the heroes can actually have a hand in.
