So I've looked all over the somewhat disorderly Aces & Eights core rulebook, and I've found the damage and range modifiers for bows and arrows, but nowhere have I been able to find the speeds associated for drawing an arrow or shooting an arrow.
Any help?
I'm not sure whether or not this translates across 1:1, but in Hackmaster the speeds for a bow are:
Pull arrow from quiver: 2s
Nock arrow: 3s
Draw: 2s
Aim: 4s
Release: 1s

Can't help with A&E, but from my extremely limited experience, I'll note that unless your shooting speed depends on the shooter's skill, you're doing it wrong;).

Again, not sure to what extent this is true of A&8s, but this is the case in Hackmaster, which is a later iteration of the same basic ruleset.
One can of course always dig through the Aces and Eights forum, and then cry a little bit inside:

It's ridiculous to me that this wasn't included in the main rules, and that there's not some kind of official document freely available that provides the rules even now.

Agreed. A nasty blemish on a game I've so far considered excellent.
Absolutely--that is why I suggested the 'cry a little bit inside.' One can use the system to play Cowboys and Indians, only just without the Indians.
Yeah, this is really where K&C dropped the ball hard, and still haven't picked it up. Originally supposed to be part of the Primitive Ranged Weapon skill, it wasn't in the Core Book, and I believe was released in Fool's Gold only. If I can find it, I'll post the stuff, Fool's Gold is around here somewhere.

Whut?!!?
Shattered Frontier RPG Rules says to treat them like firearms, arrows do 1d6 damage, except there is an adjusted range modifiers for bows right here in the 2nd ed. Errata

PRIMITIVE RANGED WEAPONS (P. 41)
As on pages 12-13, some modifiers are illegible. These missing modifiers are as follows:
Table 3.2-1: Primitive Weapon Accuracy Modifiers
Knife, Axe or Spear
To 20 feet: -4
To 30 feet: -8
To 50 feet: -16
Off Hand: -4
Throwing Two Weapons: -4
Bow
To 150 feet: -1
To 240 feet: -2
To 300 feet: -4
To 350 feet: -6
To 400 feet: -8
400+ feet: -16
Off Hand: -4
================================================
Personally, I'd go with counts for bows like this:
Drawing a Strung bow 10
Stringing a bow 30
Draw, aim, and Release a nocked bow 5
Draw And timed release 3
Draw & release 2 (-4 penalty like shooting from the hip for a gunfighter)
Nocking and aiming an arrow 6
So arrows do 1d6 yah, and are treated as piercing weapons on the critical hits tables.
Simple. Speedy.
...Now Dodblasted quit your caterwhalin, or I'll send you to Jericho, son.

I had an instructor who could pull, nock, draw and release in a the span of a second, and still hit a man shaped torso target.
Also, I think that Pundit wants is how fast an arrow flies to it's target. The issue with that is the type of bow used. Those with a higher draw will propel the arrow faster. Not to mention that you have to account for the 'Archer's Paradox', which will affect flight speed and distance.

Yep, I've seen some impressive speed shooting techniques online. My figures were based on what we (me and the boy) actually did out on the Boy Scout archery range over a few afternoons using a 130 lb shortbow a couple of years back during summer camp. Average speed was 7 seconds from quarrel to target shooting at 25m targets. We focused on accuracy over speed initially for training and for accuracy we did a breath hold technique which stretched the aiming to about 4 seconds. We could have shot faster and maintained our accuracy with more practice, of course.

Good quick rule of thumb for arrow flight speed is (100 + BDW*) feet per second
Where BDW = the Bow Draw Weight
The arrows from a 35lb short bow will travel 135 fps.
The arrows froma 70lb composite bow will travel 170 fps.
Longbows arrows typically fly @ 150-200 fps.

Sweet Christmas trees- everyone in that camp must have had arms like Popeye.
No, I was definitely looking for the Initiative Count times, not the range modifiers or the flight speed or something like that.
