It's easy. I have read longer page counts than your longest entry.
However, I must be persuaded the rules actually add something to the game. Otherwise, shift the answer to "none".
I can and have played by what the other players told me. In CoC 7, I got a pregenerated character sheet, and was told that the game is still roll-under d100, but now has a couple interesting additions.

Another factor is how much of the book is actually rules and how much is equipment, spells, monsters and other non-rule bits.

example: 5e PHB is about 85 pages of spells, 15 of backgrounds, 15 of equipment, 10 to gods, 8 to animals summons, etc. At least a third of the book is non rules stuff.

Some might consider those rules too, depending on how much crunch and/or rules exceptions are introduces in individual equipment/spell/creature entries.

Just show me the game mechanic.

If I need a book to help put me to sleep though, GURPS is my go-to rules set.

120 pages is not very much. I am quite happy with a lower page count though.
