This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: HinterWeltWe actually had our own van for hauling Theo around in. The parking was $10 for one day. We showed up on Friday and parked on the street so as to avoid paying the parking deck fees. If we were going to be there for the weekend I would pay the $20 (I think that was the amount) for the weekend parking permit.

Hotel, for Friday and Saturday night was around $200. Yes, we could have gone cheaper but the Candlewood Suites is a nice hotel and comparable in amenities to the downtown hotel. I daresay, better than the Radisson.

Bill

Parking fees a few blocks away were $5 all day. There were several lots and garages that charged this.

We stayed at a campground about 11-12 miles out. Our tent site, with water, electricity, and WIFI, was about $25 per day.

We drove out from Boston. It took us about 19 hours of driving.

Sort of "off-topic"  :
Weren't one of you two guys supposed to stop by the Klingon Jail table and let me browse at "FtA!"?

I honestly wanted a good browse at it. A couple of the days I got off-duty right at 2pm...other days I didn't start workng the table til 1 or 2pm.

Like I said, I never saw you there. I must have passed the jail about 8 times over the weekend.

Quote from: HinterWeltOh yeah, and there are a number of groups out there that do collective booths. It has been made very clear by Ed that I am not welcome at IPR. Ron has told me I am not "Indie" and thus the Forge is not for me (and so I imagine their booth). So, what the hell, Zach brought it up and if Clash was interested, it would be great to have a few folks who could spell me when running a booth. Theo is a handful and events take time.

For the record, I have several racks that work nicely in a booth environment and some experience running a booth.

Anyway, we have until January to decide to do this.

Bill

Wow, they really did that?  I'm glad you've thumbed them off then.  I wasn't asking in the manner of wondering why you didn't use their booth, I was asking in the manner of wondering if you were talking about the way they run their booth (the answer, I gather, is yes?).  I'd hang out there, that's for sure.

Quote from: enelsonThanks for that insightful article. Very interesting read.

I have to ask how much did you pay for the hotel at the airport, the rental car and parking? Was finding parking difficult?

A question for Zach or anyone else in Indie...What is an affordable alternative to taxis to the hotels? The taxi charged me $25 with me as the sole rider to go from the airport to the hotel. Is there a cheaper alternative?

I'm not sure if there's a cheaper alternative, but we just used our gamer-dar and talked to the guys behind us in the taxi line.  Four of us shared a taxi van for about $8 a piece including a hefty tip.

Bill, if you have a GPA membership could you just be use that connection and get one or two spaces at the going discount?  I think we'll be getting our own solo booth again next year, but it's a nice neighborhood.

I always said you had a nice rack, Bill...

Great info - I'm bummed I could not see all y'all this year; but I'm doing my damn best to be there next (there is no try, I suppose).

And here's to hoping for some gaming between now and then!

I seems like a great idea, and could (maybe) make business sense for some publishers. A few games/publishers here (like FtA) could really take advantages of old-school players left in the cold.

Also: could be wicked fun.

I'm pretty sure I'm actually going to GC08.

Oh, well, yes, that was what I had in mind. A group of us could learn each others games or at least the demos for them and be able to run the booth without too much disruption from running events.

Oh, yeah, we are GPA members. I imagine we could do something through them. For that matter, we could get other benefits from things like the early bird rate and the like. So, yeah, if we get serious we can do some serious research.

I saw "Squirrel Attack!" at a game store today - if I had a few more bucks on me ...I would have bought it.

I think you guys should do a booth or table together for next year.
