This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A more of a hobby/scene thread pointer

So, in a bit of a troll, I posted this thread to Rolelaying Open at rpg.net (It got pulled so I reposted the gist of it below)

Hey, I thought I would repost a bit of my post there to see what I was talking about.

Anyway, I recently joined myspace.com (http://www.myspace.com/robmuadib if you want to amuse yourself by looking), and was checking out RPG groups on there and came across this individual, Pamela Elfin, who I think most of you will agree is on the very edge of the old Gamer Geeks Ven diagram. They are a D&D player, TV SF con-goer, and transgendered crossplay furry.

A pic of them with Wil Wheaton (Geek Cred)

Their Myspace Profile

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=11980790

Them with Klingons at a con in Pasadena (They are on the left in the pink shirt)

Them meeting Virginia Hey (Xan from Farscape), (They are the one in the pink on the left)

And a pic of them dressed as a Furry Fox

So my question is, would you give this person a fair shake at joining your gaming group, maybe playing a test session?

Sorry, being one of the banned elite, I cannot read the thread linked above.

Any chance of a cut and paste job?

Heh, I foolishy forgot to copy my original post before it got pulled, doh!

Maddman

The thread isn't there anymore.  But to answer the question I am rather paticular about who I game with.  Especially when things are going good - I'd be loathe to bring anyone into my current game.  It's going great and I'm afraid I'd Yoko the whole thing apart.
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

Bagpuss

They pulled a whole thread... they are a tad draconian over there arn't they.

Settembrini

Not draconian. It´s a "reign de la terreur", which not even they have control of anymore. Unlest they jump ahead and be all-banny before the mob gets angry. Thus they seem to keep control.

Amongst my friends, many have a person or 7 they choose not to game with.  Those that have the biggest list don't really get to game at all.  You have to look at personal dynamics of a group at some point.  When things are going great, they are great.
On the other hand we had a campaign where the players fought amongst themselves repeatedly.  It was because 2 groups of gamers were merged and the merger failed.  The couple survived the attempted merger, but the 2 groups do not play together to this day.

I game with my friends. It's all the "screening" I need.

We play mostly with friends here, so it's all about consensus. If the group agrees, we bring in a new player.

Personally, I like to play with functional human beings.

I always dumpstat wisdom.  I mean it's more fun to have an excuse to play someone freakin goofy than unfriendly.  And so it kills your Will save, so what?  If I'm going to fail anything I'd rather it be Will, so that I can at least get to roleplay being the Dark Prince's he-bitch or something.  :D

Dacke

Yeah, but eventually you're going to have to put your foot down and say "Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!"
