This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

BRAND NEW at this so be kind. Have a new computer with Windows 8 and there is no support with this. Simple questions with Autorealm:

1. how can I make a division in the map, you know: one part ocean the other land? (short and simple plz!)

2. how can I make them different colors?

3. how do I make rivers? have been using the fractal lines for coastline and rivers but not happy with this!

Thanks!

Wait, does Autorealm work with Win 8? I used to use it years ago, but stopped because as I recall it no longer worked with newer systems.

1: Why not just draw only on one side?

2: Colour fill tool?

3: Heres a river tutorial? http://autorealm.wikia.com/wiki/Creating_Rivers

have trouble doing a few simple things: delete, moving icons etc... but so far most of it seems to work on Win.8
 Freezes up sometimes.

thanks for the link. It will help I'm sure. Still need to know how to divide land from water and change color. Went to Yahoo Forums but having trouble seeing what I want.

Question: do you think Autorealm is ACCEPTED amongst gamers and readers as a legit map? Best to go with color or black and white (and gray)?

How long does it take to hand draw a really good looking map. I tried to free hand and scan into my computer then print but it looks amateurish.

Again, thanks

There is a select tool and then you fill the interior with a colour or even a texture.

As for acceptable. Anything is acceptable depending on the use and the player.

But also composition and function will be a factor.
