Hi all,
Just wanted to note here that I've "published" my first take on Microlite 5E (which I call NanoNext) to the web. There's nothing groundbreaking there, but I'd like to get eyeballs on it in case anyone besides me can make use of it.
Google doc is found HERE (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7WKbnXZKNGdYnJ4cjctcWxud1E/view).
Blog post where I present it is HERE (http://www.monstrousmatters.com/2016/05/5e-microlite.html).
My apologies if I'm violating any sort of advertisement rules by posting these. I'll be glad to edit this post as appropriate.

Sounds cool.
I'll check it out
Posting so I remember to check back after work.

Hmmmm...
Isn't it a bit too much?
This is very relevant to my interests.
I agree with Jester, elves being immune to magic seems a bit much. Maybe make them proficient in 'Mind' saves against magic?
The classes are too basic for my tastes. I'd expand them to include rogue and priest at the least.
Just flipping through...
first off, everyone's going to be an elf, because they are immune to an entire facet of the game, both in and out of combat... it renders one out of the only two classes absolutely useless beyond plinking with light weapons.
second, 2 Weapon Warriors allowed by light or medium(!) melee weapons (as long as not heavy armor,) the only way to get more than one attack a turn outside of Warrior higher lvl extra attacks.
third, too much undefined. what's a ranged weapon's damage values? what is a shield's value? "Communication" skill, what is the pool of skills and their associated stat, or is it as per campaign whim?
thus, from what's knowable, elf warriors just rule the roost. get 3 weapons, two medium melee, one ranged; get medium armor; ignore shield because it is not defined among armor values.
weapons: light d6, med d8, heavy d10, 2H d12; add STR to melee, add DEX to ranged.
armor: light AC 2, med AC 4, heavy AC 6. shield AC +?.
average munhckin stat line: STR 3, DEX 1, MIND 0. choose elf: +1 MIND, ignore magic. choose warrior: extra throughput attacks & damage, two med melee weapons, one ranged plinker to damage before closing, med armor. choose skill: see if you can use solipsism to squeeze STR into any skill you can cow your GM into agreeing.
all done. well that was a fun light exercise. gg.
There are already 2 other Microlite 5E treatments besides this one. I'd check those out for ideas. I'm not sure this adds anything useful or better. Agree that immunity to magic is over the top. Grant advantage/resistance instead, and narrow the focus.
Many thanks for the feedback, y'all!
Yes, the "Elves immune to magic" idea was a bad one...too vague, too sweeping, too powerful. It's focus #1 for the next edit of the document. (I'll update here when it's posted in case anyone still has an interest.)
It looks like I'm going to just bite the bullet and double the length of this thing (since if I'm going onto a second page, I might as well make it the full two), so there will be room to address a number of deficiencies. (I do agree that if the document is going to be out there, it should offer something that other 5E Microlites don't...or at least be the one that's most to my liking without the problems of this first offering). Shields and ranged weapons will get more (or at least some) ink.
I'll also be able to expand magic-users. I'm curious as to how most of you would prefer to see classes set up. Do you think something like this needs the basic four class roles, or does the fighter/magic-user dichotomy seem sufficient? Should there, perhaps, be some options that could make a Warrior a little more thiefy, or give the magic-user a decided Wizard or Cleric feel?
Well, my initial criticism was harsh but I felt necessary. However, the goal of microlite is to get down to a page or so. So, given that you aren't using regular 5e D&D stat paradigms (noticing your stats, armor, etc. don't match established d20 ranges), you're sorta free to detach from 5e D&D and go have fun.
Or we could stay on task and find another way to scribble out the basics while staying attached to system.
My big thing is there was a lot that could be converted directly into mere formulae devoid of extra description, thus saving space. And from there you could have space to flesh out the undefined but necessary portions. But it's up to you; two pages might be the better way to go.
That said, you accidentally made a fascinating setting where the elves were the raiding barbarians oppressing the other races from ever getting ahead by regularly culling their intelligentia... ;)

Good call, and definitely something to evaluate before taking the plunge onto a second page.
