At first glance it looks like a solid and simple system, though I'm not sure how good that works with non-wargame interested players.

I had the same impression, though frankly I suspect that if your players aren't interested in wargames, they aren't interested in playing through large battles in fine detail in the first place.

The victory point system and objectives might be helpful ideas for running battles for such players, mind - rather than rolling for everything, just run what the players are immediately faced with in battle and see if they can claim objectives at a sufficient pace to swing the tide of the battle one way or another.
