It's the early 1990s--ambitious flower child Dazey dreams of stardom and the musical success that eluded her parents, formerly the folksy rock duo The Franchise. So she's teaming up with this tightly-wound high schooler she met on the subway and the shy but eager pizzaboy next door to take the world by storm!

If this game goes well, my players are interested in a prequel session about The Franchise's rise and fall

So we like the High Strung rules' general framework so far, more comments to come in the days ahead!

Wow! This is a *really* interesting mix of characters, Mr. Kent! A three piece with one "oldster" and two kids, one of whom has no musical skills whatsoever! Really cool combo, and I'd love to see how this combo plays out! What is in that journal Dazey's keeping? How will Jeffy take to learning to play (I assume percussion) on the job? Will Kim, that manipulative piece of baggage, try to take control of the band? Luckily, Guitar and Piano are really flexible instruments, able to take on Riffs, Bottom, and Rhythm as needed.

This is a magnificent setup for kickass gaming!

The players got a kick out of rolling "jail bait" and "baby". Jeffy's player wants to make "Jeffy Baby" the character's stage name...

The band for my current High Strung game is Dynamic Habit - chosen by the players after randomly rolling five names. They are a ska band in 1985 Detroit. The members are Lief Lund on guitar and vocals, Doc Brown on trumpet, John Jacob Jinglehiemer Schmidt on alto sax, Rusty Trombone on drums, and Wanda Pumpit on bass and vocals. Wanda has previously had brief but intense flings with Rusty and John, but is currently unattached. She is a Baby at 18, while John is a Geezer of 40, and the others are 22-23 year old Dudes.

During the first practice, there was terrible storm and the electricity went out, but Rusty had already put two tabs of acid in John's beer. John freaked - started hallucinating things in the shadows, voices talking to him, imagining two boys drowning in the river... John's player was brilliant, fantastic roleplaying! He ended up running out into the storm and almost drowning in the flooded parking lot outside the practice space - an unused warehouse.

I wish I could give you the PC stats, but the only one I have is Wanda's here at work - I used her charsheet as an example. We will hopefully play the second session this weekend.
