This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Seems that FFG have announced the final game in the 40k trilogy.

This should please the sadly long-time absent Erik Boille.

Erik Boielle

I'm here, and this is indeed auspicious news.

However, in the spirit of the site,

1: Took them long enough. Not to mention rushing Rogue Trader out the door presumably to sucker people in to buying something when they didn't know the good stuff was just around the corner.

2: The system. Dark Heresy for Space Marines? Really? Balancing it so shots don't either bounce off or instantly evaporate a well loved character will be a bitch.

And Unnatural Characteristics are obviously the work of someone who never passed A-level maths.

3: It'll probably be written by Marine haters like No1-H3r3, in a bizarre ass backwards attempt to make a Marine game targetted at people who don't like Marines.

:-)
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

One Horse Town

You magnificent bastard. Where have you been? :D

Erik Boielle

I am, generally speaking, happier when I'm not being wound up by the fools on the internet.

That and I think I got banned from everywhere :-)

You too can roleplay a racist killing machine! :D
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I don't think you've been banned from here.

Sadly I still wished for a game of playing Orks, Eldar and Tau, and am not getting it.

So I've not bought one of the 40K books. I'm not much a fan of the mythos but heck Orks would be mad fun, and I like the visual aspects of Eldar, I mean space Elves really make me laugh and get me all ready to plasma blast things for fun.

Whenever it came to 40k, in any incarnation, it was always the Eldar that attracted me. That's the gaming cliche I am. Never got to, outside of DoW1.

Maybe they should (though obviuosly not possible) have fudged the setting enough to allow a mixed race/class group to be believable and playable. Relegating the Eldar to a mere supplement doesn't sit right for me.

Is anything else planned for Rogue Trader?

Aside from the GM screen and one adventure book, the line seems pretty empty. No announcements of future products on FFG's website that I can find... no gear, ship, or alien books in the offing, or their existence is carefully hidden.

It's sadly the one book of the series I was most looking forward to, and I'm getting a "red-headed stepchild" sort of feeling about the line.

Im guessing that deathwatch won't see release since gone Gencon. Isn't there something out for RT soon? Lore of the Expanse or something?

To be fair, there aren't any post-Ascension supplements out for DH at the moment.

It's been pointed out elsewhere on the forum that FFG have shifted their policy with regards to announcing supplements for DH and RT: rather than announcing them a long time in advance, they're going to be letting us know they exist when they're going to the printer. Which means that it can look like nothing's in the pipeline, when actually there is, we're just not going to hear about it until they're nearly ready to release it. I think someone on here has mentioned working on multiple RT supplements.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

That's a brilliant policy move.  Absolutely brilliant.

Nothing says "hey, buy this game!" than adjusting their website so that two particular products look like they have absolutely nothing coming for them while everything else has all kinds of upcoming products listed.

Why, that's almost as good as taking a year to put out a lousy GM screen for a game.
