This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Forgive me for shunting you to my blog, but I don't have time to reformat all  the html to bb code: The 1e AD&D All-Dragon NPC Classes Swashbuckling & Sorcery Campaign

I'm guessing this thread is for feedback and comments on that blog entry, right?

That actually sounds pretty cool.  I'd play that.

I'd definitely tweak some of the class abilities, though.  I agree with you about how D&D's hit point abstraction should account for a lot, instead of elaborate parrying rules.

Hmmm.  What if classes like the Duelist and the Mariner (I'd totally play a Mariner) got bonus hit points when wielding their preferred weapon and/or weapons of proficiency?
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

That's not a bad idea, but honestly I don't think it's even necessary, to be honest. A little streamlining is really all that's needed.

It looks like a really good idea and it would be very easy to come up with a cool campaign based around those character types. I'd certainly sign up to try the Alchemist character. I've always liked playing the scholarly and slightly 'fish out of water' type characters.
