So there is a game I kickstarted a while back. It was supposed to deliver physical rewards August 2017. The creator has had some hardships that came up. He hasn't been the most prolific of updates, but he has been forthright with the backers. And here he is still trying to get the books delivered to backers. Then you have people that just don't even try and just skip with money.

So this is definitely the absolute LAST CHANCE/LAST CALL for anyone who needs to change their shipping address if they have moved to Timbuktu or become a Tibetan monk or whatever during the ridiculously long delay. Because the books have started shipping.

Right now in fact the books are in the process of being shipped. Envelopes being stuffed, address labels being printed, trips to the post office being made, less-cost-prohibitive-means-of-international-mailing-being-sought-where-necessary (we did ask for what I was afraid was too much money for "Anywhere In The World" shipping but it never seems to be enough with international shipping rates; anyway, I'll manage, I've long since stopped caring about being in the hole on this project financially as long as I can deliver the backers what they deserve). I don't have a very precise estimate of how long this will take but I'd guess that everyone should have their books by the end of October.

I'm not going to post about this person's hardships. I just wanted to call out that there are good folks in the industry, but too often we focus on the slime that moves out to the Far West.

You should really post this after everyone has received their books. I've seen this sort of thing in more than on KS campaign and the books somehow never make it from the guy's garage to the post office

Just following up on this, my copy of the game arrived today. I had forgotten about it, to be honest, but it was in my mailbox.

The game is Systems Malfunction.

Well, I've (finally!) had my first completely failed Kickstarter. Technically a game, but in reality a neat idea for a language learning tool.

The original creator made all the classic mistakes, stretch goals, physical add-ons, without realising that he wasn't mentally capable of delivering even the basic product. It should have died right there.

But after a year or so after it died the first time, a rescue group came in. I'm not quite sure what their business plan was, other than "work fucking hard", but they announced bankruptcy a week or so ago, full of regret. I give them credit, they did work fucking hard.....sadly I never got anything to show for it.

I'm a bit disappointed, but I had given up on the KS a long time ago, and I don't bear anyone any ill-will.

Difficult to compete with the Kickstarter where the guy's girlfriend was working on physical deliveries after he died. I'm electronic/PDF rewards so it did not effect me. (Any RPG supplement with phylogenic trees is one in which I'm very interested.)
