This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

As the tin says, regardless of all their pledges NOT TO use AI art WotC got caught again with it's pants down.
How long until they use it for D&D6e?

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

They really just never should have made any such promises, everyone knew they weren't going to keep them. That's beside the fact that because they contract out their art, it would be next to impossible to be totally certain none of the art is generated anyway.

They probably should have just remained completely silent on the issue. They still would have bad press when they do use it, but less so since there wouldn't be the broken promises angle.

This is another self-inflicted wound.  If they hadn't virtue signaled about not using AI art, they wouldn't be in this mess.  Better yet, if they hadn't paid any attention to the sort of people who wring their hands about AI art in the first place, they wouldn't be in this mess.

I really couldn't care any less about the us of AI art.  Representing it as somehow stealing art is just bullshit.  It's no more stealing art than a human artists are stealing art by using existing art styles.

They did it so people would go "Ok" and get off their backs.  They knew they weren't going to keep the promise.  Just another lie from WOTC.

AI is going to happen. It's happening in all other business areas and will come to RPGs too. Unstoppable.

That is just disheartening to see... I'm hoping that at least 6e will be spared, but the chances appear slim...

We've all noticed, and we've all been calling it out.  Companies being taken to task for it is somewhat more recent and 100% more welcome!
