This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

And what's your favorite server?

Mine is the Team Lethal server : 8.9.30.208:27015

Doesn't hurt that I'm a member and junior admin there....;) But there's a great set of people there.

I'm there most nights after 7pm. Started playing a bit more demo and spy recently. Still suck at spy, but I get a few kills.

My interest in TF2 got severly snipered when I learnt that your weapons get leveled, the more you play.

I'm willing to die a lot learning how to play the game.

I'm not willing to die a lot just because of union rules.

TF2 = Sucks.

It's not so much they get leveled. The levels don't seem to mean anyhting as far as I can tell. You get whole new loadouts!

There are achievements you get through play (for example 1 million burn points - pyromancer, I has it). After you get a cetrain number, you unlock a milestone. Each milestone gets you a new weapon. There are 3 weapons per class. Medic, Pyro and Heavy all have some, and I got all but medic through normal play. Medic had some stupid stuff, and a lot needed to be farmed.

But there are achievement servers, and places like mine who have people willing to help you farm. We usually only do it when there's low numbers of players.

But not having the unlocks isn't a big deal - My main class is pyro, and All I use is the new axe - crits 100% if the enemy is on fire, which is great for the heavy. The shotty and the starting flamethrower are better. Heavy's pretty much the same - his starting chaingun is better than the new one. Medic is the only one that had "better" guns - his main offensive weapon gives you HP back, and his melee charges your uber 25% with each hit. The Kritkreig (replaces the ubercharge) isn't so great, but it's fun on a heavy.

I'd suggest you come to the server, but right now we've been having some really bad problems with crashing for no reason... we've found it's not beetlesmod, and it's not HLstats ( the 2 extras on the server). But looking at the status page, we've had over 6 hours uptime now, so maybe the issue's fixed.

Seriously, I have the IP in the OP. Come by one day when you're free. Let me know and I'll be sure to be there and help you farm. And if Walker's on, it'll go much faster :D Like I said, medic is the only one that really needs farming. And if *I* can get it legit, anyone can! :D

Hmm, thanks, I'll think about it. Having to unlock stuff when I pay for a game is a big turn-off for me, though.

Like I said - you don't have to unlock anything. Some of it's kinda dumb - Photostroika for the heavy is provide a freezcam shot of a taunt while ubered. No one in their right mind will waste an uber to taunt. But IIRC there's 32 achievements, and you only need at most 26 to unlock all 3 weapons.

Like I said, one day hit the server. If nothing else, you may enjoy hanging out with us more than the actual gameplay :D

Have you watched the Russian version of that? It's got English subtitles.

"SING WHILE YOU CAN!" It's great!
