This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

QuoteDear Friends,

It is my sad duty to announce that FASA Studio has officially closed its doors. Today was the official last day of employment for those of us who had not moved on to other positions within Microsoft Game Studios. While the rumors have been circulating forever, we chose to wait on an official announcement because we didn't want people's attention distracted from our last product, Shadowrun, a game we love.

As a testament to the team's commitment to Shadowrun, we released three title updates to improve the product even after the team learned we were losing our studio. We have kept our Community Manager and Technical Support Manager on the job to aid and support you and will continue to do so while people continue to play our game. I am pleased that about half of us have found great positions elsewhere in MGS and Microsoft where they can share their experience and passion with the great people there.

But now, as the last of us say our goodbyes to each other, I'm saying goodbye to you on behalf of a group of talented and dedicated professionals who busted their humps for the love of the game. I am proud to have worked with and represented them to you and know that wherever they go, they will continue to kick ass.

Eh? I really liked Mechwarrior computer games in their variants. And I have a soft spot for FASA going all the way back to Original Traveller days.

I'm all for good ol' FASA Corporation, FASA Interactive, and even some games from FASA Studios, but the latter butchered Shadowrun with their final game.

Farewell, FASA Studios. I enjoyed the Mechwarrior games and both 16bit Shadowrun console modules, and I was always in favour of the FASA RPGs for their originality, despite all flaws in execution.

And what is that XBox Shadowrun game you all talk about? There isn't a SR on the XBox. There never was a SR on the XBox. No one knows about a SR on the XBox. I still suspect it's just a typo and they originally meant Sado Hun or something like that.

I too enjoyed the Mechwarrior games and I played the Shadowrun on the Nintendo side.  However, I am actually trying to find people who actually played the new incarnation for the 360.

The shadowrun game was a pathetic attempt at a cashgrab on name recognition alone, that bombed horribly when they made it all too apparent to the gaming audience that this was exactly what it was well before the games release.

Top that off with the fact that you couldn't even actually play the game when it came out because the servers were broken and the staff was off on a 3 week vacation, and apparently continued multiplayer problems and lack of content, and well, they weren't a company really worth keeping around.

If all that happened the way you said it did, J. Arcane...I can see why I couldn't find anyone who played it.  Probably heard about before they bought or even rented the game.

Not quite dancing in the streets or tossing back a cold one with a smirk, but I ain't feeling the least bit sorry for these sad sacks of shit either.
